I work at a dealer and we just started getting the 2018 Camry so I would imagine they should be arriving soon or around Fall at the latest. I haven't heard anything special about them either so I'm assuming there won't be anything major in changes.

This, it always makes me pause when I read that people "ordered" their car/truck from Toyota. You just get to pick out the dealer's allocation or maybe the dealer does an allocation trade with another but you really dont get to order your vehicle like you can with higher end cars.

I believe this is incorrect. You can custom order the truck from Toyota. The post you quoted was referring to building one on the website (if I'm not mistaken).

Custom order, not custom build. Toyota doesn't do custom builds like Jeep does, for example. You tell them what you want and they try to get it allocated. Toyota's management process is based 100% around knowing exactly how many of every part and build there will be so there is no waste.

I'm sort of in the same situation as OP, currently in a 14 TRD Sport. Lots of 17s left on the lots which I can get a good deal on especially when the 18s come in, then they'll be on clearance. However I'm waiting to see if the 18s will come with new options/updates (such as the power rear window they added for the 17s).

If there are new options I don't mind waiting and spending a little extra. Dealer is telling me no official word yet from Toyota although one salesman did say the 18s may be getting a power seat option which I could see being plausible. My 2012 4 Runner had it, Tundra has it, every competitor in the class has power seats. Being 6"4 during a test drive on a 17 my hair was brushing the ceiling (sun roof) so if height adjustable power seats are in the near future I'd definitely want to hold out for that. I could see myself going over a speed bump at reasonable speed and smashing my head into the roof...

It would be nice to at least have manual height adjustment. Even the Rav4 loaner I currently have has it.

Aren't most of these Toyota parts interchangeable? couldn't you grab a seat from model x and bolt it up to our trucks?

I made an appointment with a guy I know at the dealer, sat at the computer and picked each and every item I wanted on my 2015. Received a build date about 3 weeks later and it was delivered about 7 weeks after that. Piece of cake.

I would certainly call my experience "ordered", just the way I wanted it.

You "ordered" a truck that was already slated to be made around the time you wanted it. Toyota knows exactly how many blue longbed trd sport 4x4 with predator steps and mud flaps they are going to make and when they are going to make them. If they've already made all of them that they are going to make and they are all sold, then you aren't getting that exact build.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
YOU are wrong --the dealer can order a truck for you-- If they tell you different -they are lying to you. First they will look around to see if there are any nearby --you can remedy this by stating --you want a new one-- delivered to your dealer (by Toyota contracted transport truck to your dealer) (not driven 100-200 miles from another dealer in a "dealer trade").
Mine was built for me after they could not find any like I specified, even on the factory projected build list. BTW mine is a 17 SR5 4x4 AC AT Blue with one and only one option -the tow pkg.

Same here, took four months to get a 2015 Access Cab, 4-cyl 5-Spd in silver with Utility, and Convenience.

But it was exactly what I wanted, I was happy.

Reasons I'm in the 3rd Gen section is I am really thinking of ordering a DCSB SR 4x4 with only two options, Convenience and Tow...

Before the dealer discount it comes to 31,835,

I'm going to see how long and how much it's going to be out the door.
