Deaver Expedition Leaf Pack Owners

    So from what I can tell from a lot of vendors respsonses over the past 3-4 days OME Dakar HD leaf packs are basically non existent and will be back ordered for another 3+ months... im currently running Icon AAL on my OEM leafs with the following weight...

    CBI T3 rear dual swing arm in steel (150 lbs)
    full size spare and 2 jerry cans (100 lbs)
    snug top camper shell another (150-180 lbs)

    totaling 350-380ish lbs

    my question is...

    Deaver Expedition pack rated for 300-400 lbs of weight
    Deaver Expedition 2 pack rated for 500-700 lbs of weight

    pricey but if the money is built into the springs it would be worth the cost...

    OR

    wait for Dakar HD packs to get back in stock?

    any and all responses would be greatly appreciated

    I know this is a 3rd gen section but I have them on my second gen. I got them because of my hitchcarrier and dirtbike, while carrying a full bed load of gear w/ rtt. I cannot be happier with them (u402 w/ custom add a leaf). I called up deaver and told them my needs and they are super easy to work with. They're very knowledgeable and will point you in the right direction for your needs :thumbsup:


    Also I hear nothing but good things about headstrong off-road. Give them a ring as well:thumbsup::thumbsup:

    Can you buy the light duty and add an overload or are there additional springs?

    Just got my light dutys from Headstrong yesterday. Looks like it would be very easy to add the overload leaf.

    So I have the Deavers and would run those over the Dakars any day! They hold weight with ease, are quiet and ride amazingly well on the street. That said, because of reasons, I will be running the new icon expedition stage 2 RXT rear suspension in about a week. Kind of am experiment with my favorite local shop, most of you know who, but I am optimistic that it's going to be a solid setup. I got the see the new shocks today and they are pretty rad. The resi's are 2 inches longer for increased capacity which will dicipate hear much better when the truck is loaded while also providing just a bit more wheel travel. Stay tuned.. will be putting them to the test pretty quickly after I install them

    I have a custom pack based on the U402. Call up Deaver and let them know what you're carrying, weight loads and how much lift you're looking for and they'll either make a custom pack or recommend the U402. This package is awesome and handles the weight extremely well. I've been in the desert at 60+ with this whole load and no problems.

    This is loaded with the CVT Tent, CVT awning, Leitner Designs Active Cargo System with the cargo boxes full, 8-gallons of RotoPax, MaxTrax, CBI steel bumper w/swing out and full-size spare and 4-gallons of water, full-size floor jack, full tool set, full RTIC cooler, WaterPORT, 2 large action packers full of camping gear and a 15lb PowerTank.

    I currently have the HD Dakar packs with icon 2.0 shocks. I do like the springs. They are quiet and handle weight extremely well. However they are a little rough without weight in the truck.

    I'm moving to Icon RXT omega bypass shocks soon so I can control rebound settings which should smooth out the springs.

    My point is that if you run any heavy duty/expo springs you'll need to experiment with shocks a little bit to get the best ride

    Also in case anyone is interested, here's a shot of the "new" ome leaf springs. Marie had mentioned in her thread that the paint quality is pretty poor on these, and she's not wrong. Everything else seems skookum.

    amazing responses guys! I really appreciate all of the tips and advice! I didn't see anyone state the pricing differences though... are the deavers worth almost double the price of dakars in the long run though? I plan on doing weekend trails/camping and will have some harsh winter environments next year so durability is just as important... new to leaf springs so im not sure how long the arch stays put before sagging etc...

    yeah being new sets with paint quality like that makes me a little skeptical on how well they'll perform spec wise.... I've heard the weight they can handle are averages and the max weight like they advertise like the 330lbs is when the overload springs are working to assist which basically means maxed at 330 lbs not rated for regular daily load of 330 lbs like advertised... looks like deavers are in my future... would have liked to get leaf springs and a new skid plate lol but id rather get a proven leaf pack than regret it later on...

    Hey man, if you have the $$$ go deavers. Custom will always be better.

    I'm not too worried about these, they'll handle everything I can throw at them I'm sure. If I ever decide to go midtravel, I'll start looking into deavers. Curious how the light dutys will perform, seems like the majority of guys here run heavys.

    yeah I'll have the money but was originally going to go with dakars and a new IFS lol but after seeing the new dakars paint job or lack there of I'm going to go with the suggestions above and go with the deaver expedition U402 pack 300-400 lbs seems to be right around my daily added weight with the bumper, full size spare, jerry cans and camper shell

    I have a 2nd gen. Will be carrying this stuff full time:
    Bruteforcefab HC rear with swingout, 1 rotopax, full size spare - ~250lbs
    Aluminum contractor cap - ~80lbs
    RTT - ~105lbs
    Waterport - ~30lbs
    Bedslide - ~120lbs

    plus I have a RTIC 65, ARB chair, various camping supplies, but not full time. I have the older gen Dakars, and will be adding the
    $82 D29XL Leaf Spring
    D29XL AAL to make mine the HD, on Sunday. I also have full steel skids and sliders.

    I can report back after I get all my stuff installed.
