Now that they finally developed one for the 4runner, someone that was at the FJ Summit mentioned Magnusun said a 3.5L charger for the Tacoma is being developed also?

Any one have any information on it? I'm sure if enough people emailed and bugged them we could get some info or at least confirmation that it's in the works?

Im surprised they made one for the dual VVTI T4R/FJ engine, can't be that much demand, hope to see one soon for the 2GRFKE!

30% is what they got out of that engine. 30-40% increase on 2GRFKE would make all the difference. That with the transmission tune...

Without toyotas backing and coin, there is no CARB certification, just like the rest of their kits.

I don't know where you got your info but the 2nd gen Tacoma blower is CARB legal. It's not hard to make 5th gen 4Runner CARB legal either. Same goes for the 3rd gen Tacoma.

The reason the 3.4L, 4.0L and 5.7L chargers are CARB legal is because they were TRD.
When TRD shuttered the program they purchased all of the manufacturing components from TRD and continued production.
The CARB compliance was an easy transition because it was already in place.
Getting certification on a brand new product is a completely different task, and an expensive one.
If it's as easy for them as you are claiming, then how come none of the other superchargers they make for other brand vehicles have a CARB Number?

A good example of this would be the the 3.5L intakes. How come none of the other available intakes with exception of the TRD offer compliance?
Because it was backed by, and paid for by Toyota.

having worked for Vortech Superchargers I can tell you that is in-fact categorically incorrect. The reason they can't get carb approval (in some part) is having to crash test for the addition of the superchargers snout hanging off the front of the engine (although it might be a minor issue on the roots / twin screw types as I believe it's considered a part of the motor and as such might not require additional testing). CARB wants to ensure as well as emissions that in case of an accident some component of the kit doents blast off the front of the truck and become a projectile. It was a much bigger issue in the centrifugal kits where the components were hanging off the side of the motor.

I'm betting the whole "CARB certification" thing is just about money. TRD being Toyota was able to get their branded superchargers CARB certified just about as soon as they were being sold...you'd think that when TRD dropped out that Magnuson could continue to sell them as CARB certified being that they were the exact same blowers but they couldn't; California wants its money $$$$$$$ for CARB products and Magnuson had to pay up to earn that. Took years but the 3.4l and 4.0l s/c's just got CARB approved last year.

If they follow through with developing one for the 3.5l I'd bet that they release it "pending CARB certification" like the other ones were for several years before they got the title. Hopefully it won't take that long but I bet people here in CA will the be the last ones to get them (legally speaking; I mean it's not like you have to worry about smog checks for several more years). The market was always big for them in CA on other trucks and it took forever to get them CARB compliant
