Good morning. Well not a good start for a Friday. In the last 45 minutes of work saved the world from destruction 3X so far. At least the little world that some people live in. But there are sick people standing there waiting so guess my sarcastic little comments aren't really valid. Swore that I would never get hardened where they are concerned and still trying to toe that line.

More coffee then I'll think about post evaluation and writing knowledge base articles. Hell I don't think about it I just do it, how am I supposed to write a KB? I just do it. More coffee.

You are correct good sir that is a BGE, but has the largest pork butt I have ever seen. Have thought about a pizza stone as a heat sink for my WSM in fact this week looked at them again. But ordered a lid for the water bowl that should be here today for my cooks below 225*. I will fill it with sand from the tube that is sitting in front of the corner of my garage to help keep the water from running in. And cover it with aluminum foil. Cheaper than a stone and doesn't crack.
I go through that too often and totally understand. Dogs are great at listening but suck as conversationlist so find myself keep coming back here. Even though the voices in my head keep saying don't. Clam up and retreat from the rest of the world sounds good if your an isolationist like me, but in reality sucks.

OK now my day is complete! Dogs Toys and Sleep. What great creatures they are if only I could learn to be more like them.

Likely the same Cabela's that I had send a gun from to the store an hour away from me cost me $25 but that isn't really all that bad in the end. Never been down to that one.

Quite a few years ago was back "home" with my 3 sisters and mother and for some reason we decided to go to Binghamton NY to go to the big mall there and eat. It was a couple hours drive but IIRC my sisters wanted to go to a Texas Roadhouse that was there. On the way in the car I said to my BIL wonder if we could stop at the large Gander Mountain that is there. My mother asked what is a Gander Mountain. My middle sister said Mom think of a large Walmart but for woodchucks. Everyone laughed but I couldn't help but think in reality my sisters and mother are all woodchucks too, at least born and raised, but women folks don't think that way. For some reason.

Thanks Chief, I appreciate it. :fistbump:

You'll get the KB, you just have to think back on it. Used to kill me writing checklists and procedures for controllers back in the day, but flowed pretty easy once I sat down, throttled back and thought for a bit.

Coffee sounds like a great idea.

So the sand works as a better defuser than the water? No fear of an odd taste coming from the sand from possible contaminants?

Never had a problem with the sand right now I use the heat shield from the bottom of the WSM it fits the water bowl brackets perfectly. I always cook it off for an hour first though before putting food on it, just in case. The heat shield is tapered and the outer edges are thin and don't hold much sand, and that is where I want the most heat distribution so the cover should work better. For the bacon coming up I may just use the water bowl because I will only smoke for 4 hours. But for jerky it is running close to 12 hours and the water bowl is huge and takes up a lot of space that could be used for charcoal instead. The lid on the water bowl helps keep all drippings from making a huge mess, have to see how it works out. But I normally smoke dry and like the extra space for fuel and wood a lot easier to refill with the heat shield in there than that fat water bowl.

Ok, I never thought about having to load for a 12 hour burn. Going to take a shot at some ABT's this weekend. Doing the poor man's (ghetto) smoker set up with my kettle. Trying to figure out what I want to do with the cheese blend. You guys come up with some interesting combinations. Especially like the sound of the pineapple juice.

 I did it for years on my kettle, but there are limits with it. But for Atomic Buffalo Turds it is about perfect. Well except you can do a lot more on the WSM. 2 days ago took my last package out of the freezer and ate them for lunch yesterday I need to make some more very soon. Dang it now you got me hungry again

Just sitting here cooling off after grass trimming and a shower. I'm feeling a little sleepy. That's a good sign... I think after some lunch I'll be good to go.

Good morning folks. Just got finished with the blood draw, waiting for the coffee to finish brewing.

I'm going to try something different today. I have a boat dock to assemble that sitting in the parkinglot. So instead of working in the sun on that hot asphalt, I'm going to try working at night. I'll hit the office about 1530, grab ice and water, hit the gas station and by the time I get to the field and get everything set up it should be about 1730-1800. I have to get some work lights because there's not enough in the lot to work under, but that sun just beats the crap out me. Today is all OT, so it doesn't matter what time I start and finish. I just need to turn off any generators and loud noise by 2200.

The wife gets off work at 0001, so it should work out about right.
