Dropped the front bumper off today to get powder coated. Hope to have it back in a few days. The added weight up front is a must. Truck bounces bad up front and rides like a tank.

I don't buy cheaper parts anymore. After cheaping out on my driveshaft and learning the hard way, never again. Toyota OEM or better. I'm not building a racetruck, so i don't need fancy nonsense, I just want the most reliability I can get.

Well, the OEM parts are the same bends in a different bag with a higher price. Only thibg I can say is get parts from places like AutoZone, so it comes with a warranty. It breaks, you take it back and get a new one.

How long are these? They look like they'll work in the back of a 5th gen once lifted also but hard to tell.

Not doing that. Bought a carrier bearing with a lifetime warranty. It was sloppy and had cracked rubber before it even was installed. Led me to lose my shit and buy an entire assembled driveshaft. I don't want to buy on price point anymore. I want to do it once and be done. Buy once, cry once...as they often say around here.

The difference lies here. I don't care if a Taiwanese part has a lifetime warranty because I don't want to uninstall and reinstall it 3-5 times to get a good one. If I have to spend more on oem to get that toyota reliability...

Basically, I just want to know

    1. What I should pay for these parts?
    2. Should I do more than just the idler pulley and tensioner?
    3. Am I crazy for going OEM or are there BETTER options?
    4. I've never done this before on a toyota, is there anything else i need to replace or inspect?

I mean, oem lasted almost a decade, so you know they'll last. As far as prices, just gotta shop around. There's a guy on here called Gunny who gives people oem parts at a discount.

My boss took his 2016 in for his 5k service and they didn't do a oil change because Toyota recommends 10k mile oil change intervals. He does his oil changes himself every 5k.

With how cheap you can get synthetic oil nowadays, you might as well.

I put in the service description I wanted an oil change due to adverse conditions as described in the owners manual. We'll see how it goes when I drop it off. Hopefully I can get it covered under the service plan. If not I have 6 quarts of amsoil 0w-20 at home I need to use.

My boss misses his 1st Gen taco and offered to trade me his 2016 for my 2004 and I take over his $500 a month payments. I told him "no thank you"!
