How did they scratch tge door handle down to the metal? Like what were they doing?

Work with the detail shop to set up a replacement. They shoukd pay to have it fixed. Touch up paint will not work the part needs to be replaced.

Nothing wrong with paying a professional to clean a new vehicle, you just need to make sure they are a certified detailer and not just a crew of imbeciles washing a car for a high price.

There is a great automated car wash close to my home that I use weekly. they keep it very clean can I've never had any scratches from their wash. I just don't let them do the spray wax stuff on there so it doesn't discolor the black plastic, then I do a quick application of MGs Quick Detailer after, a bit of 303 on the black plastic and my steps.

I made the mistake of paying someone to do a detail while I was away on a work trip. I specifically said "do not touch my truck w/ Armor All" and what did I return to? an oily truck interior - they even used armor all on the fabric trim on the doors and lower dash like idiots and this is a respected shop... since then I do my own deep clean, clay, polish, wax every 3 months or so. Truck still looks pretty close to showroom 15k miles later.

They should pay for / resolve the scratches though. no question.

Unless you are going to a touchless car wash that is a false statement. Auto washes cause swirling and marring of the paint/clearcoat. Most people just "don't see it" because they really don't care how their car looks. Detailers like me can see the swirls from a mile away.

I never take my truck to an autowash. Strips all my sealers and products off. I'm also terrified of a machine malfunctioning causing severe damage to the truck. A hand wash doesn't take long, especially if a good sealer or paint coating has been applied.

Autowashes do cause damage. All washing causes damage, hand wash with proper two bucket method is best.

Dealerships like to install swirl marks and holograms. A detail right after you pick up your new vehicle isn't a bad thing.
