Does anyone use the outlet in the bed? I'm going to a tailgate at a baseball game this weekend and some of the guys I'm going with want to use the outlet in the bed for a radio. I know the radio does not exceed the allowable power but I just don't want to go to leave the game to a dead battery.

That's no problem. Start the truck up once a while if you are worried about it...or bring jumper cables. Either way, you'll be fine

I would imagine you could run a radio for a LONG time without running down the battery.

A jump pack is your best friend, they are reasonably cheap nowadays and one should be on the list of ''just in case'' items one keeps in their vehicle.

I could be wrong here but I think it's 100W in motion and 400W in park. I don't know if that changes with the engine off. But it'd be an easy test because there's an indicator.

Well that not a problem running the battery dead bc the outlet wont work with out the truck running... 400W idle and 100W while driving.

Edit: I actually charge my Ion speakers all the time that lasts 12 hrs on 75% volume. If I forget to charge it before a trip I'll plug it in on the way over to the event which is usually enough.

No it's actually like I said, 100W in motion at 400W at idle.

The flip of that doesn't make any damn sense anyway. :)

I've used it a couple of times to charge my dog remote collars when headed to hunting or training grounds because I forgot to plug them in overnight. Otherwise it's not really powerful enough to run any tools. It would probably work fine for a small light or radio...

Otherwise it's not something I couldn't live without

It runs my electric pole saw and a rather large hedge trimmer. Not at the same time.

Yep. I made up a 25 ft cord and it works great. Long driveway and I got tired of hauling cords. I was surprised it works.

I'm pretty sure it's the other way around (unless 3rd Gen is different from 2nd Gen)
100W driving, idle, and engine off
    400W only during idle.

I don't think they like vacuums. It won't run my little Costco shop vac either, but it'll run my DA polisher just fine :notsure:

and doesn't it only run power when the vehicle is ON - maybe ignition, but still I don't think I can just plug something in. pretty sure that I spent a bunch of time rigging up some rope lights inside by bed under my tonnau cover to plug in for bed lights when needed, only to find out the truck had to be on for it to work, so therefore I quickly removed. my fault for not testing first.
