IMG_0396.jpg IMG_0390.jpg Got the JBA UCAs installed today while I was at work. Would've liked to have done it myself but it'd be weeks before I could get to it. $195 worth of labor fees/an alignment later I'm pumped with how it turned out.

Is there a way to tell what gearing a front diff/carrier has without opening it or looking at the VIN? I'm buying one from a scrapper and want to confirm it's 4.30 but it's off the vehicle already.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Mark the output shaft and turn the pinion while counting how many turns it takes to achieve one output shaft turn.

Uninstalled is the easiest way to tell the ratio, since will visibly stamped on the side of the ring gear.
It will either show the actual ratio (say '4.30') or the teeth counts that calculate the ratio (say '30/7' ).
This works for a rear diff, not certain about an IFS front diff.

Shit guys maybe you can help me out. For the first time since I bought this truck it threw me a check engine light. It says P0171 System Too Lean Bank 1.

Just so happens I'm on a road trip and I'm typing this on the side of the highway. Is it safe to drive the truck?

I have an K&N CAI on if that helps. This just popped up out of nowhere.

Do a quick check for vacuum leaks, see if you can hear any hissing while the truck is idling. It may just be an O2 sensor that went bad. Have you changed air filter, MAF, fuel filter lately?
