I'll take some. It's 40' and right next to the block wall between me and my neighbor and leaning over it.

I get that it will be a technical job to get it down but the thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was that they said they had a "secret sauce" -which they would NOT apply to the roots as part of the job- and wouldn't even tell me what it was UNLESS I agreed to the job. Sounds shady like they are going to say, "Just salt it" or some shit.

The quote also included grinding the stump all the way into the dirt which is counter to what the literature I've read says on how to deal with Sissoo roots.

I would leave the stump at least 2' tall, you want the plant to try and regrow from the stump, while you poison the shit out of it.
If you grind it down to the roots, it would get them growing on their own, and much harder to control.
    I hope that makes sense...
I would drill some deep holes and add stump rot, and even add some brass nails or screws.

There is a court case that I believe is still going where the state was trying to charge a woman for telling her BF the same thing.

Thats a pretty low blow from Shinoda if this is legit news. Wouldn't expect that from long time friends.

Looking for some help from the Flagstaff guys. I was planning on meeting some people in Flag for some riding. I am worried the rain has wreaked havic on the trails. Also not sure if its going to rain tomorrow. Any input guys?

    Thanks

Yup, if you do a simple google search for "sissoo root kill", they specifically call out leaving a taller stump and NOT grinding anything down so I was surprised the "arborist" was telling me it was going to be an extra 250 bucks to grind down the stump and all the roots.

I've already made my decision I won't be using those dudes. The name of the company, by the way, was Valley Tree Masters/Valley Tree Trimmers/Scottsdale Tree Trimming (they use several names to get more hits on google, which is where I found them).

I'm waiting to get contacted back by the other companies I reached out to so we'll see.

It has rained hard up here basically every day this week. My guess is that any dirt trail is going to be a muddy mess. And from the looks of the weather outside, it is probably going to rain again today.

Sam is right on. We've been getting at least a little rain everyday. I was out for a walk on the urban trail system here yesterday and it wasn't bad at all, but I imagine riding on less maintained trails will be a little sloppy.
