I do have a K&N cold air intake on it. I don't hear any hissing but there is a clicking from the brake booster and charcoal canister area

Hmm, check the vacuum line and check valve on the brake booster, not sure why that would click but is a common spot for vacuum leaks. Have you looked at or cleaned your MAF lately? Those K&N's tend to gunk them up with oil and they send faulty readings, although I would think they would tend to read rich, not lean.

Not much you can do while on a trip, if you don't have all your tools, other than buying a can of MAF cleaner and using it.

Also, simply running out of gas will trigger that code. In that case, you simply need to clear the CEL.

The FSM, for this code, does not include any 'do not drive' warning.

    Good luck.

I've had the K&N for about 6 months now. This is the first problem that's arisen. I'll clean the MAF when I get back home.

I cleared the code and drove about 40 miles at 75mph. No more light. I'll keep you guys updated once I get to Reno I'll pull the MAF off.

This is why you should carry a dang code reader in your car. Saved my life.

Since the P0171 is a 2-trip logic, you might not be out of the woods yet. :(

I got my Paranoid Fabrications Scan Gauge ash tray mount today.

Some rattle can flat black and a little more Velcro tape and I'll be good to go.

Hissing would just effect power output yes?
Is their a good way to figure out where it may be coming from?

Use a can of carb cleaner and spray all the vacuum hose joints, if the RPMS go up then there is a leak in that spot

If you're leaking vacuum after the MAF, then you're adding air after the MAF has done it's measuring, so you'll end up running lean.
If you're leaking exhaust before your O2, you're losing air before you give it a chance to measure it, so it'll measure less oxygen than there actually is, tell engine it's running to rich, and then it'll reduce the fuel coming in... and you end up running lean.
Running too lean makes things get too hot, which leads to detonation, which is bad.
So, hissing affects more than just power output.

The way to figure out where it's coming from is to spray starting fluid around the engine bay - when you spray it near the leak, it'll suck it into the engine and make it rev up higher.
