@OVTune You teased us with the comment regarding details of the previous calibration updates that toyota has given. Can you please expand?

FIRST IMPRESSION AFTER FLASHING 1.01 alpha:

i think this is the first time since the beginning this thread went to page 2 lol.

anyway i installed 1.01 alpha on my MT this morning and drove to Dallas, about an hour. i also removed my Pedal Commander to start clean and fresh.

it drives normal now. just a normal V6, nothing weird and it doesn't make you try too hard or frustrate you.

the ECU may learn a bit and improve? dunno. I'm just in for future tune updates.

funny, after removing my Pedal Commander it's like a big loss of power in the first 1/3 of throttle position, BUT IT'S LINEAR so i ain't complaining. power tuning will show a little more down the line.

all this drama, now there's just no issue with driveability... pretty transparent. good work @OVTune . really looking forward to the MT future files!

OP mentioned that it will take some mileage for the ECU to relearn the fuel and ignition trims on an email discussion I had with him after getting my tune flashed.

Edit: What octane fuel did you use?

That's @dYL0n. He's back. But unfortunately he is no longer allowed to post to this thread for some reason. I do know that the install of his new URD exhaust system has been delayed due to a fitment issue with the exhaust pipe (see the other thread for that). But he is currently working on his initial review of the OVTune, and he intends to add that to his Build Thread.. hopefully by the end of the day.

Maybe at some point he will be allowed back into this thread, I hope. :fingerscrossed:

I've been in the road for 2 weeks in the Rockies, so I've been on 91 to burn out the 87... been on 90, 91, or 93 ever since. now that I'm back in DFW I'll stick with 91 since it's easy to find, and 93 isn't helpful since i don't ever rev high.

First station I went to only had 87, 89, and 93 so I used that. The one close by has 91 so I am gonna be using that. I plan to travel with my flashing laptop and hopefully tunes for various octanes as I have been in far off places that didnt have anything over 90 before... (far off from Texas).

Correct me if I'm wrong but isnt lower octane alright at higher altitude proportional?

Yes it is due to the difference in atmospheric pressure

I suppose you could look at it this way WRT not using the pedal commander: you've brought back some throttle resolution.

I guess for now we'll have to check his build thread, since he's no longer being allowed to post valuable information to this thread. :(

@OVTune You had mentioned in this thread that while we can share the tuning hardware itself with others, the tunes themselves are locked to the actual truck. My question is what is the process and pricing if someone wanted to just purchase a tune from you while I shared my hardware to read/write to the ECU? I realize it may be early to ask this, but information is valuable nonetheless.

It sure is, reading the ecu was not that bad. I was really excited and skipped the part where I needed to download the dongle drivers so at first the software said no dongle present. Once I figured that out it only took like 3 clicks of the mouse and about 20min for the ecu and less for the gearbox.
