Towing mirror suggestions?

Hey everybody, looking for some suggestions on towing side mirrors for my '13 DCSB. We are embarking on a 10 day trip around western Montana and pulling this beast. Thanks for your help!

 

I have used the McKesh mirrors for many years. Some say the scratch the paint but It has not happened to me. They can easily be moved between vehicles. Pricey but do a great job.

 

PROEFX mirrors, it's what I and many others use. You can also add turn signals and heated mirrors. I believe @mach1man001 should be able to hook you up.

I think I want something less permanent, this is the only trip were taking with the camper this year, I think...

 

Well they fold in and out like the dodge tow mirrors so it sort of isn't permanent lol.

Also, it looks like the trailer is nose high....probably want to level it out so it has more tongue weight.

 

As an aside, that's a sweet old Shasta. Love the custom paint job!

 

Drop hitch to level that trailer out.

 

Thanks. I know it was pretty bad. I've since bought a drop hitch for it. Fortunately I only had to tow it like 2 miles that day.

I'm looking for something similar to haul behind my '69, but thanks to the 'glamping' trend everybody wants $3000 for a rusty, leaky, mildew-riddled junker.

 

Pretty much. My father-in-law saw it sitting in someone's yard and paid like $1500, then dumped another $10k into it. He passed away before he ever got a chance to take it out so my wife and our two kids are finally going to hit the road.

Ordered July 2015 and I've used them on about a dozen trips now (they were less expensive when I ordered them). Once you get them set up and adjust the straps they are super quick to install. They will sometimes push on the power mirror and mess up adjustment if you're not careful installing them but other than that and the fact that I still cant see the trailer tires, no complaints. I've thought about adding a blind spot mirror to them to try and see the trailer tires too.

 

I have pulled many a trailer in my day but never in the snow, seems like it would be scary.

 

Caught in a late spring storm unexpectedly (extended forecast was clear when we left for our trip). Managed to time it where we didn't have to chain up going over the pass but it was close. Passed the chain control in 'X' miles sign but by the time we got to the controls the temps warmed enough that they lifted them.

Got caught in another snow flurry later that year on a gravel road up near Crater Lake and it was much worse. We were on a busy 2 lane road that turned to gravel with no warning (road construction and I think someone took out the sign or it blew over). Slowing from 35mph on wet gravel, while going around a turn on the side of a mountain, with crap visibility, oncoming traffic, and 5,500lbs pushing you around...pucker.

 

These actually look pretty decent and have good reviews on Amazon, little more expensive than the cipa ones but might be worth it.
