holy crap!! california turkey season is about to open!!

got my first bird last year. feels like i spent a billion dollars (in new gear)since then in anticipation for the second bird!!! doing it bowhunting style again.. new ground blind, new decoys..some new custom made slate calls. making my wife and egg laying hens insane with the practicing. chickens do respond to a slate call.

anyone else in california ready? i'll be near mariposa ca, opening morning.

 

I probably won't be going here, but my hats off to you because you are going to get em with a bow. What kind of blind do you have?

Holy crap!! CA has turkeys??? Closest I ever saw were those damned peacocks.

 

Hell yeah california has turkeys. I was checking out a dirt road on the edge of town the other day and drove up on some just cruising down the road.

we killed four. only one with the blind. finally got a bird with bow, and NO hunting blind. getting full draw, with two birds was tough! got it done.

 

congratulations!!! That is truly a challenge to draw down on a turkey AND close the deal!!

Can anyone advise me on some good areas? Never been turkey hunting so i'm oblivious as to where to hunt.
