Looking for a wheel to fit 255/80/17 tires on stock 16 TRD OR. Would prefer 17x7, but 17x8 will do. Originally planned on Konig countersteer six shooter but I'm not sure about fitment at 0mm offset.

    I also found these: https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whe...coma+4WD&autoYear=2016&autoModClar=Double+Cab

not sure I like the look but theres more offset options. I think a 16x8 required 4.5 BS at 0mm offset. I could be wrong, I cant find any proof of this other than my memory.

What about the 4runner TRD Pro wheels? 17x7 with +4mm offset, should fit 255/80/17. I personally like them.

Are you only worried about suspension clearance?

Stock OR is; 16x7 ET +25mm/5" backspace
    16x8 or 17x8 ET 0/4.5" backspace

    17x7? Good luck...

    Personally I would want a 17x8 ET +12mm. I don't need or want 'stance'.
I wish more wheel manufacturers would do 8" with positive offsets. I've only found a couple that do, but i'm not to keen on their offerings.

I like them as well and in theory they should fit the tire. Just looking for someone who's done it.

I'm fairly confident I can clear the suspension with 0 offset. Not so sure on the fender and stuff.

The tires will protrude about 1" more than stock.
Tire is plus 3"; so 1.5" close to fender well/cab mount.
I'd see what a 1"x1.5" block sitting on the outside corner of the oem tire looks like at lock.

Based on every calculator I'm finding a 255 80 17x8 with 25mm offset will fit exactly the same as a 255 85 16x7 with 25mm offset. How does this work? I'm super confused by this. Is it the increase in width by 1 inch?

Gravitating toward the crushers. Is 10mm or 25mm offset a safer bet? I know it's pretty uncharted but numbers don't lie.

There's rim width and then there's wheel width...
Rim width is inside-to-inside; wheel mfrs. give this dimension for sizing tires.
Wheel width is outside-to-outside, so yes, add .5" for each wheel flange. Backspace is hub-to-outside of inner flange.
Most online offset calculators don't account for this.

    Examples:

    16x7 et +25mm=8" wheel width
    8" wheel width/2=4"
    4" +(+25mm)=5" backspace
    8" wheel width - 5" bs=3" protrusion

8" rim et +12mm=9 wheel width
    9" wheel width/2=4.5"
    4.5" +(+12mm)=5" backspace
    9" wheel width - 5" bs= 4" protrusion

8" rim et 0mm=9" wheel width
    9" wheel width/2=4.5"
    4.5" + 0mm=4.5" backspace
    9" wheel width - 4.5" bs= 4.5" protrusion

8" rim et -12mm=9" wheel width
    9" wheel width/2=4.5"
    4.5" + (-12mm)=4" backspace
    9" wheel width - 4" bs= 5" protrusion

So then the backspacing is different on a 17x8 et25 and a 16x7 et25. Which could affect clearance.

    Yes.
    8" et 25mm is 5.5" backspace
7" et 25mm is 5" backspace (stock oem)

So 12mm is an equivalent offset for any 8 inch rim no matter the diameter?

Here's the online calculator I use.
I like it because it accounts for the section widths of a tire mounted on different width wheel.
I also like it for the scrub radius calculation.
The same size tire, mounted on a 7" will have a different section width than when mounted on a 8".
Like I said, it doesn't account for flange thickness, so it's backspace calculation is off 1/2".

    As far as backspace, yes.

What else am I missing? If the backspace and height is the same as a stock wheel, would it not fit the same?

If you mean the same offset/backspace and width, yes.
Diameter has nothing to do with offset or how far it sits in or out.
