Hi everyone, bought my SR5 Tacoma last week. Everything felt great during the test drive and driving it around the next 3 days after purchase. But I began to have a pain in my left hip that eventually became unbearable. It appears the raised upholstery that borders the left side pushes against my hip and is the cause, but at this point I cannot be sure. Anyone else having this kind of issue, and if so, what did you do to correct it? Prior auto was a 2003 Tacoma that had the split bench seat, and as you know, the 2017 is bucket seats.

some of this, a little of that
maybe a small very thin pillow or cushion under you, if that fails maybe try a local upholstery company maybe they have a better more permanent solution. I know that even on the 2nd gens some found the seats uncomfortable for longer drives. Good luck

spent $200 and had an experienced upholstery shop customize my seat for me, add more bucket, more thigh support, and a slightly lower seating position. it was horrible before, undrivable. now it's comfortable for hours and hours.

That is a great idea and at that price seems completely worth it.

Thanks for the replies...I appreciate it!!

St Germain, I noticed that my thighs barely touch the seat at all. That probably adds to my problem as well.

I just ordered this from Amazon to help with long road trips. I am 6'1" and it sucks to sit in the seat longer then a few hours. This seems to help so far, but i have not taken a road trip with it yet. Though its probably not what you had in mind. Seems the upholstery shop sounds like a better fit for you. My problem was lower back and tail bone.

There is also a kit that raises the seat a bit to help with your thighs not making good contact. I am not sure where to order it from, just heard about it.

yeah you need more bucket! an experienced shop will:
    - carve the bucket out from the foams bottom, not the top
    - carve out max almost to the frame, then
    - add low density foam to the carve-out to take up slack in the seat cover.

call around and find an upholstery shop with experience in this if you're able. if you're around DFW gimme a ring to try it out.

man that is good idea and didn't think was possible. I am wanting to trade my 16 Colorado in for new trd pro and had a 16 pro and seat was uncomfortable but I had issues also I had to get fixed over next year. Now I want to get back in one and I know the seat isn't the best but really want this truck. If I can get custom shop be able to redo seat like you say that would be great. Could even do it for passenger seat as well for the wife. didn't think this was possible.

I think the seats are designed for your average 6 ft. American male with a 28 inch inseam......
