The only problem I am aware of with extended travel Icon COs is that some models of aftermarket UCAs (particularly TC) will impact the springs at full droop, requiring use of limiter straps to prevent over-drooping.

I've been researching the shit out of Icon lately as I plan on going with them for my lift needs down the line...

Good question. I've read a lot about the issue with TC UCAs and Icon extended travel remote resi COs (part ICO5-8735). I am unsure if the non-extended travel RR COs (part ICO5-8730) have this issue or not.

Apparently, the issue is the extra droop.

I will damn sure be getting to the bottom of this before ordering anything though - you can bank on that.

No problem. I intend to contact some of our Icon people on TW here regarding this issue and any insight they can lend.

Yeah...exactly my thoughts...better off just not going extended in the first place, or going whole hog and getting some fiberglass fenders on there...

I'm wondering if the problem is present with the non-ext coilovers...I'd like to stay with Icon...are their remote resi coilovers 2.5" or 2.0" OD?

Icon will be going in the rear regardless, but I'd rather not have suspension binding/rubbing after lifting (lifts cause enough problems as it is). May have to go with a different brand in front if this can't be resolved.

Hoping it's not an issue with the non EXT C/Os.

i think you are ok with the standard coilover, never heard anyone talk about any of the standard coilovers touching the uca. You know that the rear icon shocks are not rebuildable right. I had them and they were very stiff for what i wanted.

Not rebuildable, but pretty inexpensive so that's not a huge concern. I like stiff...like to feel the truck fight back against uneven terrain.

I haven't settled 100% on Icon but they're definitely well in the front runner position.

It's looking more and more like Camburg UCAs...because I plan to replace all the bumps with Timbrens while I'm under there doing the lift...no sense in opening the can any more often than you have to...

i thought they were pretty pricey, i got my fox resis for the same price. If you like the icon rear go for the eddlebrock shock. Eddlebrock make the rear shocks for icon.
