Anyone have their AC blower break on them? I started my truck after work today and the AC fan started making a horrible noise. It sounded fine as long as it was below speed 4.

Pulled the in-cabin filter out and the blower fan has a crack in it where it attaches to the shaft.

Bringing it to the dealer Monday, just curious if anyone else has had this happen.

Yes, I remember at least two threads about it. One as recent as two weeks I believe.

I've had an AC compressor fail on a brand new vehicle that was 3 months old at the time. That sucked when it blew hot ambient air in Dallas summer.

Yup. The compressor clutch would click on and off repeatedly. It was fixed under warranty in 1 business day, but that drive sucked going home lol

    Yes, me.

Broke yesterday while picking up my truck from the dealer after the diff recall. Covered under warranty. Super easy to replace

Ok, easy to replace is good. Will carpool with the wife Monday so hopefully they can fix it quick.

Can't say I've ever had one break on a vehicle before, I've got about 12k on mine.

There have been a handful of Threads here for that very issue, that plastic must be brittle.

This is a common issue for many other vehicles. My wife's Civic has a door on top of fhe fan unit that cracks and makes a loud ticking sound. We've had it replaced under warranty and now it broke again. We just leave it

So turns out the fan is on backorder and they have no idea when they will be getting one. Guess Toyota wasn't prepared for it. Must be a lot of them failing now. So I'm driving in the Texas heat on no more than speed 2 on the AC.

happened to mine yesterday but mine went totally out. I am in Austin so feel your pain with the heat. Tech told me mine was the 6 one he has seen recently and part is on backorder as well. They gave me a rental. I have owned a toyota truck since the purchase of my T100 in 96 but this new truck is killing me. Diff leaking too despite not being recalled.

Yeah I had an hour drive Thursday after work through rush hour traffic in 100 degree weather, had to shower when I got home.

I've lost all confidence in Toyota after this, the rear diff and the fact that I hate driving it. Unfortunately, for me, there is nothing out there that appeals to me that I can afford. I'll probably trade it in on a new car for the wife and take her's till something new comes out.

Her's is a 2006 Highlander and eats the Taco up on drivability and comfort. It has over 100k and is rock solid, not to mention way faster, weighing almost the same as my Taco and having a smaller, less powerful v6.

Sorry about the rant, the heat has gotten to me.

my confidence in the truck is certainly shattered. My wife has highlander as well and it has been bulletproof. It's so bad i found myself looking at Tundras! Unfortunately i can't do anything until I get my truck back. According to dealer, 236 are on back order in our region! so no eta on ac or diff.

Wow! 236! Now I'm worried we will be like this all summer! They said they didn't have any loaners but put me on the "emergency" list. I wasn't even going to take one because I figured it would only be a few days for the part and I didn't want to have to move car seats around. Now I'm going to call Monday and do some bitching.

    Good Lord, what's next?!
Sorry to those of you who have to deal with this issue. It's hitting the 100's in the NW, and I'd probably go insane if my A/C didn't work

Curious, do you keep the AC on when you turn the vehicle off?

At least they have a loaner for me tomorrow. Tacoma, was hoping for a 4Runner. Pain in the ass to have to move car seats around but better than sweating to death. Now the fan is making noise on all speed levels.

They told me there are almost 300 on back order. There's a shipment of 90 or so on it's way to the region but they have no idea how many they will be getting.

Is it the same over pressure issues inserting the shaft that's too large for the opening on the plastic blower fan causing it to fail and fall apart?
