My exhaust is falling apart again, this time where the muffler attaches to the intermediate pipe. It is getting kinda lose, I'm surprised it is still quiet.

I have been searching for an inexpensive yet quiet solution from the aftermarket and haven't had much luck. I also searched craigslist and the for sale section and didn't see anything.

Does anyone make just a tailpipe section?

I could put that on myself with the quietest muffler I could find. I would consider a catback if it were cheap because I would likely change out the muffler for something quieter. I think $200 is all I would want to spend on this. I have too many other projects I'd rather spend money on.

The only thing I found was the Walker Quiet flow with tailpipe for around $100 but the old school hot rodder in me won't allow me to get those accordion looking crunch bent tailpipes. I don't mind the regular muffler shop bends on my Tacoma, they don't really stand out as much.

I might go that muffler shop route again, having a muffler shop make me something may keep me under budget. I just wanted to see if I had other options. Either way I'm going with the largest, quiet muffler I can find.

I didn't think of rock auto. Damn that's cheap and tempting

But I just can't bring myself to use those accordion looking bends. I'm an old school hot rod guy and it just looks wrong.

Yeah certainly not very good flow wise, although that far down in the stream after the restrictive stock muffler is probably only going to affect cosmetics. But I understand, it would bother me too. I would just get some bends online and weld one myself, I'll be doing that soon on my new truck.

If your worried about restricted exhaust I am guessing the Cross over pipe is removed and your running a true dual exhaust

I pretty much only use the Walker exhausts .

Then my Hot Rod days are long in the past .

    Quiet Exhaust is much better.

A few bolts a gasket some hangers done.

Where are you guys getting this stuff? I never said non-restrictive. I said quiet and cheap.

BTW quiet and good flow are not mutually exclusive. But that's not the point.

And no, I'm not running true duals, haha. What would be the point of that anyway on a 3.4?

I'm running something custom made with higher clearance because years ago I munched the stock tail pipe off road. That high clearance setup has presented challenges and I've had it redone once already. Now its falling apart due to age mostly.

My point is, I just can't bring myself to run an exhaust with those accordion looking bends. It's partly philosophy. But other than flow, its just plain ugly. Regular exhaust shop crunch bends look infinitely better. I would see the pipes everyday and looking at those ugly pipes everyday would piss me off. I just like my Tacoma too much.

I guess what I'm looking for doesn't exist

I put headers on a 3.4 and a true dual exhaust for the guy down the hill .

He seems to like the way it sounds .

You crawl under your truck every day ??

I thought I was bad every 2 weels

Tell me you have your truck lifted and it was no problem. When I lifted mine I needed to weld a longer brace onto the tailpipe end as the stock was too short.
Or maybe you can adjust the exhaust pipe you put on in such a way that you do not need a longer brace?

nope, mine's not lifted. but i don't see what difference that would make, unless you want the tailpipe/muffler to hang further from the body. why did lifting it affect the length requirement of the exhaust?

I meant height of the tailpipe and length of the support brace.
If I remember right the new shackles were in the way.
