Haha JDM offroad would be like an 80 Series landcruiser (one of the few Toyota sold in the US but made in Japan) with the OEM winch package all three lockers, OEM beadlocks (very rare) and all of the fun OEM expedition goodies including high idle for winching.

A lot of people import the HDJ80 Land Cruiser now because it is over 25yrs old. They are solid beasts, the Japanese versions generally have less creature comforts but still have all of the rugged off-road features. Cool part is even the Land Cruiser model made for the US (FZJ80) was still fully assembled in Japan. Also he probably would have been happy to talk about it.

There was this 2017 Tacoma going to a trade show earlier this year that had a big decal on the windshield that said "MADE IN TEXAS"

Little did they know it was built in Tijuana according to the VIN. If the VIN started with a 5 it would've been built at San Antonio.

I think one of the only cars Toyota still make in Japan is the 4Runner.

Lol, I was wondering what "true jdm off-road" meant too. Looks like it means 30 guys trolling some guy that probly regrets saying "true jdm offroad".

It is a nice truck though. I can always dig gold wheels on pretty much any color car.

Hecho En Mexico: 2017 Auto Production In Mexico Surges Despite Trump Attacks

A move by auto makers to produce some popular sport-utility models in Mexican factories helped spur a 16% increase in production of light vehicles in Mexico during the first six months of the year compared with the same period in 2016. At the same time, tepid sales of sedans held down production in the U.S. and Canada, according to new data posted by WardsAuto.com.

The data indicates one in five cars built in the North American Free Trade Agreement zone comes from Mexico, including hot new products from General Motors Co. and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV. That is up from the industry’s reliance on Mexico during the financial crisis, when the U.S. car business received billions of dollars in bailouts aimed at preserving jobs and keeping domestic players afloat.

Separate U.S. trade data shows that the value of light-vehicle imports from Mexico to the U.S. ballooned 40% through May.
