Quick question, should I mention if I'm an out of state buyer during email negotiations?

Man, these prices on a new Tacoma makes me glad I bought mine brand new back in 2010 for $25k.

Based on some of the comments, my truck model with similar options would be about $40k for a 2017. Yikes!!!

Depends. If you have the final price in writing, that'll save time. If you're getting any financing through the dealer that can take some time to run your credit and discuss options. Are you trading? Count on added time if you haven't had it pre-valued by they dealer. It's very seldom a 'fast' process. Think my fastest turn around was in the 2 hour range. In that case trade in value was already set, financing was already in order with USAA, and we'd already agreed in writing to an OTD price.
Good luck. You got a pretty solid deal it seems.

Awesome, I may just get outta there fairly quickly then. No trade, putting $22k down, financing rest but preapproved.

Price is in writing before T+T.

I actually thought it was more than that. It's the little green valve stem caps that give that extra boost!

Picking up a DC OR LB quicksand with the JBL system for $36,500 + tax. Prior military, so I was able to get it $1200 under invoice.

Yep, same config (OR JBL Tech/Premium) minus the long bed, with tow, tonneau, exhaust tip and carpet mats, MSRP $40498, same price $36,500. Definitely a sweet deal.

Checked a bunch of dealers here in SoCal and they wanted $38k to $40 for the same truck, they would not match. I did have to wait 3 weeks until the truck was shipped in to the dealer. Once I got the news that it was ready, I flew up to north Cali, and drove it back. It was a great experience and the best deal that I could find.

Wow, seeing some really great deals on here. Just got back from the dealer today and had my first attempt at getting down to invoice pricing. I used the thread on TacomaWorld to get this breakdown for invoice:

TRD Off Road Double Cab 4x4 LB - $32,718
OR/Sport Prem & Tech Pkg no JBL (DC Only) - $2100
    Towing Package - $579
All Weather Liner Plus Door Sill Protectors - $ 139
South East Toyota DHP fee - $935
    Total invoice - $36,471
    3% NC tax - $1,094.13
    Total: $37,565.13

After going back and forth a few times the salesman's final offer was $38,500 out the door. His supervisor claimed, "if we go any lower than $38,500 we wouldn't be making money". Although this wasn't a terrible offer by any means I'm sticking to my mission of getting it at, or below, invoice. Especially after seeing so many people on here snag one well under invoice. Any tips to how you got there? I went today for a reason, it is one week before the end of the month. I'm hoping this will give them more wiggle room as the end of the month approaches. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also, military folks... How did you go about getting your rebate? I'm getting so many mixed answers online. It looks like in the fine print from Toyota's website you have to finance through the dealer to receive it and the $500 is put towards the finance contract as down payment. Not sure what to believe though because it also says not valid in the state of NC, yet on the NC dealer website it says they honor the $500 rebate.

Correct it has to be financed through TFS and can only be up to 72 months. As far as finding a truck under invoice, they are wheeling and dealing since its the end of the year and slow sales but below invoice is gonna be a hard find, a few of us got lucky, especially since your wanting a sought after config. Depends on your area as well. Honestly my 16 I got $1000 over invoice and that was months of back and forth my 17 was total luck of the draw, was emailing salesman and said I would entertain trading in if the price was right shot me your best deal, 2 hours later was in my current truck below invoice, good luck!

I got the same deal, just not a DCLB, JBL Tech and Premium 4wd OR, MSRP $40598, paid $36500 before TTL. OTD shouldn't be factored when figuring out savings as everyone is in a different state, etc.

    Thanks for the reply squid!
That is interesting I'll have to redo my loan calculations to see if it is worth financing through Toyota with the $500 off. Last I looked was 1.99% for under 60 mo and 2.99% for 61-72 mo. Also have to see if he'll even go $500 lower off the price for the rebate. I'd be more than happy to drive home for $37k all said and done. So if he does take the $500 rebate that put the offer at $38 and only $1000 left to haggle off. He knows my budget was MAX $37k so maybe the end of the month will push him to drop the price. Unfortunately, this truck is the exact set up I want so I really want to make a deal!

Wow sounds like your experience was smooth and simple. I had to ask 3 times for their best price lol. I tried trading in my old Tundra and doing a deal a few months back but they really low balled me on the trade in so I just sold it.
