I would also replace the small O ring that seats the sensor. The chemicals in the cleaner are hard on Rubber products. I used a small 90* pick to carefully remove the old one. Toyota has or can get them. Part# 22204A shown in the diagram.

Thanks for the part#. Hopefully Toyota won't charge $75 for that. ;)

Lol! Not sure if it's the culprit, but it wouldn't hurt to replace it. I'm surprised your not getting a Check engine light.

Do you have a link for the hitch? I'm assuming you lopped the old one off and burned the new one on. I haven't looked at them much yet but deffinately see the bennifits

You know what it was, I washed all 3 cars a couple days ago. That definitely caused it.

Got a killer deal on an ARE topper for the Tacoma today. Found it on craigslist (where its been for a month) about 30 mins away from me. Asked the guy if he still had it and he said yes and that he wanted $500 for it. To be the asshole that I am, I asked if he would take $250 to start a good haggle and I would have gone up on my offer for sure. He said that $250 was great and had it all unclamped when I got there. He even helped me put it on my truck and tighten the clamps. So I got to meet a pretty cool guy and got a good deal for me! All I need to do is get the stickers off the windows.

Anybody know where to get some good color matching paint? I think I am going to bedliner it and cover that with a color matching paint.

Also, is there a good place to get parts/pieces for the topper? Light inside is broken and missing an insert that goes in the rail on the side of the bed.

I had a similar problem when I had a remote start installed. Turns out the $80 bypass for the immobilizer system I paid for was them cutting my key open and gluing the chip to the bottom of the ignition.

Once I ripped out the remote start and returned the chip to my key. I never had a problem again.

I second the suggestion made to try your spare key and see if the problem persists.

Glad you were able to figure your situation out. No remote start with mine, but I'll try the spare key.

Well they are part of the ignition system (as I'm sure you know) The spark generated by the ignition coil ignites the fuel and air mixture in the engine that enables the truck to start and run smoothly. Didn't see you mention anywhere that you changed them out as a possible fix.

Replaced the grill, headlights and fogs over the last two days. General maintenance today - oil and filters changed, front to back tire rotation etc. (odd guy as a spare at the moment, previous owner NEVER rotated it in!)

I'd check the date on that spare. It very well may be garbage if it's the original one. I know my 2005 still had the original spare from late 2004, and it was junk. Those last numbers 4804 is how you read the date. This tire was made in the 48th week of 2004. IMG_0887.jpg
