I'm going to Vegas in a couple of weeks. My wife has a convention or some shit to attend, so I'll have some free time during the day (a few days). Not really interested in "city stuff", but anyone have any recommendations for things I should do or see that aren't too far outside of the city?

Yeah, I'll have a little shitbox rental car.
I'll be solo on Wednesday & Thursday and will probably go to Death Valley and Valley of Fire. There are a few other places I'd like to go, but I don't think I'll have time. Wife and I will have Friday, Saturday, & Sunday together. Planning to go to Hoover Dam and Red Rock Canyon a couple of those days. She'll want to go to casinos or see some shows. I'll probably have a good time, but I have no interest in that. Whatever...lol.

Posting here because he only wants a local sale. I've been in contact with this guy for months, bought some stuff from him previously. Long story short, has an 06 prerunner, he's selling it soon and just put it back to stock. He needs these parts sold as soon as possible but doesn't like dealing with forums... TBH, I need someone else to buy these so I can get the parts I need. He had said I could have the parts I need but didn't answer me back for almost 2 months and now changed his mind and wants to sell everything as a whole or have someone set up to purchase these so I can get what I need at the same time. He's asking $250 for the K/N CAI and power stop slotted and drilled rotors. 15k miles on the K/N intake and 23k on the Power stop rotors. Contact Grant at 7022752315. Thanks

I generally do all of my own work, but when it comes to Toyota's in Vegas I think Precision Performance is the way to go. I had to bring my FJ there for some help and they are very nice, friendly, clean, and fair. I noticed two or three Tacoma's/4Runners in the parking lot with some kit on 'em which made me feel a little better.

    Just flew home this morning.

I ended up spending all last Wednesday alone at Valley of Fire.
Thursday, I spent the whole day alone at Death Valley.
Friday, after my wife finished her morning meeting, we went to Hoover Dam. After that, we crossed the memorial bridge and I saw a gravel road. I think it was Kingman Wash or something like that. My rental was a little AWD Hyundai SUV, so we took that road which led down to Lake Mead. Easy drive, nice views.
We were going to go to Red Rock Canyon, but just didn't have time. We did "Vegas stuff" the rest of the week.
I wish I would've had more time to squeeze in some outdoor things, but I'll get another chance. We've been kicking around the idea of moving somewhere in the Southwest.

I see you're in Gonzales, LA. My Dad was born in Duplessis and raised near Gonzales. He left shortly after returning from the Korean War, moved to Utah and then Vegas in 1958. I still have some distant cousins there. I lost my Dad two years ago but it made me think of all the good things he'd say about Louisiana. He was proud of his Cajun roots.

Small world. Sorry about your dad. My grandfather was also in Korea. He passed a few years back.

We're actually in the Duplesis school district, but my daughter is able to go to Gonzales because my wife is a teacher.

I mean these are sexy imo. They come gloss black powder coat and would look good. I like the boxed look strength and look nice plus heim joints for perfect alignment and they don't wear out plus there uniball also

For sure, the big downside to the heim that I can see is that I would break the steering box before any components... I carry the tools/replacements to replace a tie rod but not a box.

How would it break the steering box?

It wouldn't necessarily break the steering box. But the heim components are way stronger than tie rods and the steering box, so the steering box would break before the heim. Not a big deal if you're somewhere you can easily tow out, but if I'm in the middle of nowhere, I can replace a tie rod on a trail. That being said, I seriously doubt I wheel hard enough for that to be an issue haha
