Pros - people assume you're 16 years old because your truck has a scoop.

Cons - increased reflection from the sun at certain times of day. Increased stress from constantly fighting internal realization that the scoop on your truck isn't functional. Lighter wallet after you accept the poser lifestyle and buy the matching tailgate spoiler.

Personal preference, man. It's not functional, so you're really only asking what looks better...on the internet. Go with your gut. You'll have to look at your truck more than anyone else.

I have one. When I bought my truck I made sure it had one cause I liked the look of it. I knew it wasn't functional. Thing is, after a few summers in Texas driving in a west direction between 5pm-8pm, it gets annoying as I have to hold up my hand to block the glare off of it. Sunglasses don't work to block the glare, and the visors don't go down enough. The rest of the year I'm fine.

So in the end, if you don't have one, spend your money on another mod.

Do you want panties to drop as soon as they see your truck with the scoop? Get it.

Alot of glare, they make matte black vinyl stickers that go on the scoop that kills the glare, cons solved. People have also installed LED bars inside the scoop for some functionality, so not totally worthless.

Don't listen to these non-scoop guys, go with what your heart says. Or your wallet. If your wallet says no, don't do it.

    Hood Skewp. No question.

It's for looks only so there are no pros and cons. It's a non-functional scoop.

It really comes down to personal preference, but I would say there are some cons. The glare, increased air resistance, and the thought that you have a nonfunctional POS in view at all times are turn offs for me lol.

I'm not crazy about the the scoop, but wanted the Sport. The benefits of the Sport outweigh it.

One thing I hear people complain about is the reflection off of it. I've never experienced this.

I pulled in to my regular gas station a few days ago. Some random customer was there with his 2012 Sport. I have a 2011 OR. He started telling me how much cooler it is to have "the additional 35 hp" that the scoop provides.

I don't think he liked my reply. Fake hood scoop and painted bumpers and mirrors don't add hp dood!

I like the LOOK of the scoop, but not enough to pay for it, and I MUCH prefer the OR package for what I do with my truck.

    So....No scoop for me!

Lol increased air resistance? Seriously? The hood is actually a low airflow zone on the truck, hence why it's non functional, otherwise people would be adding intakes to it.

I have never had an issue with glare on my scoop. My work mist just be in the perfect direction so when I'm driving to and from everyday the sun doesn't hit me.

I like my scoop because I like being able to actually see the hood from inside the cab. I have never experienced the glare problem others mention.

As I said earlier, I have no need for form OR function of a hood scoop, but there is NOTHING about it that would make it a negative worth mentioning. For those who LIKE 'em, good on ya! For those who don't, simply buy a truck without it and go on with life. Don't rack your brain trying to offer some unfounded criticism.

    ^ This.

I've had both, I prefer the look of the hood scoop, and the color matched truck vs chrome. To each their own. Yes there is a glare at times in the right light, but a cheap easy fix.
If you like the way it looks and want it, get it.
Comparinga sport VS an offroad to offroading characteristics is kinda dumb, as you can make a sport easily as capable or more as an offroad, with an ARB locker. Just sayin'.

Do what you want, but don't criticise a person's choices based on your own preferences.

Quite a bit more to the off road than just the locker...It would cost well into the thousands to add all the details onto a Sport. Most end users wouldn't know which one is which without a detailed look at the option list. But, as you say, it's ALL about personal preference. I went shopping for an off road model when I bought mine. Nothing else would do for what I had in mind.
