What? ATRAC and some hill assist? I had an offroad prior to my sport. Wasn't impressed to be honest. Off-road skill is alot better than some electrical off-road crutches, honestly. I'm not naysaying the off-road, I'm just tired of people lording their off-road over sports like it's some sort of offroading beast compared to a sport.

I like the look of it. Also have an STi with a real hood scoop intercooler.

I use the hood scoop to keep my pizzas warm on my home. They fit in there perfectly. Also a great way to make breakfast burritos while on the trail. Just remember to keep that area free of bugs if you do so.

I like the looks of the scoop and wanted one on mine up until I rode in a friends with a scoop. The glare sucks ass. I bought a snorkel instead and now I look more bad ass and my scoop actually works.

Higher capacity cooling system....Bigger transmission cooler, bigger alternator, bigger battery, bigger brake master cylinder, gas tank skid plate, progressive rate front coils, and a few other things. No one is "Lording over" you, but there is a difference, regardless if you realize it/understand it or not. Spend some time and check part #'s. There's a litany of differences. No where did I say one was "better" than the other. That seems to have originated from "someone's" insecurity.

ATRAC is shut down when in 4Lo. That's not even on my radar. You don't have to be so defensive. Just pointing out the differences.

For all the haters that say they're just fake and a person doesn't need one... can you honestly say that EVERYTHING you have on your truck is PURE FUNCTION? Those nice looking rims? Those blacked out badges? The tinted windows? The TW sticker on your rear window? The custom shift knob? The "TRD Zombie Team 4x4" sticker? The ditch lights? Aren't some things that we put on our trucks just be there to make them look better? Look at the hood swap threads... clearly more people like the look of a scoop than those that want the non-scoop look. Do scoops have a function -- they sure do: they make Tacomas look better.

No doubt. I've seen some things people do to their trucks that's WAY more gawdy than a stock hood scoop.

When I went to the dealer to look at a specific truck (6spd MT) I didn't really know anything about the TRD trim lines. I made the comment "It has a hood scoop, and it's fake" to the salesman. I thought it was dumb as hell. At least my Celica had an open hood scoop to disperse the exhaust heat, or so I read. Of course I still bought it, but I'm not a fan of the hood. Although, I never noticed the funky sun glare the others mention. I don't hate it but I don't love it.

And from my post in a different thread:

When I first got mine and started a new job I was parking next to another 2014 but I didn't know who owned it. Eventually I heard someone going on about "this douche bag with a hood scoop keeps parking next to me..."

Get a scoop and if you are worried about people bitching that it is fake, just get a supercharger to go with it. ;)

    Speed and looks.

What I'm seeing is, this thread should probably be moved to 3rd gen, because this thread is starting to evolve into the sort of arguing you'll usually find there.

If you really want a hood scoop, more power to ya. Get one.

If you want the laundry list of off road accessories that are standard on off road models, get an OR.

I don't have window tint. I don't have ditch lights (although they do have a function if you do night wheelin'....

    I have stock wheels,

    Haven't blacked out badges....

Function over form in my world. YMMV.

Point is; Not sure why all the butt hurt and or defensive posturing....?

There are differences between the OR and the Sport. That's why Toyota sells those different models. One is a trim package. Other is an accessory package. No one said you are more/less of a man/woman if you buy one or the other. Just pointing out differences.

TW sticker does serve a purpose....Identifies people as TW members. I sure as hell didn't put mine on because "it makes me special". (A) Supporting @tcBob....(B) Identifying myself to other TacomaWorld enthusiast's.

Hoodscoop is really no different than spoilers or bullbars. They don't really serve a purpose besides enhancing the look of vehicles

Out of those 3 items, I'd give the nod to the hood scoop.

I like the more taut, control ride of the Sport. I also like the color matched bumpers, mirrors, door handles, LED side signals, etc.

The scoop? I'm rather indifferent to it. Probably wouldn't have it in a perfect world. But for all the things I like about the Sport, it's a small sacrifice to have. I don't pay much attention to it really

Its like putting carbon fiber look stickers on something to make it look lighter by actually making it heavier. Serves no purpose and offers zero performance gain. To me, thats pointless. I cant stand fake stuff like that on vehicles. But it's your truck, do what makes you happy.
