I buried this in a couple of larger threads, decided to pull it up to it's own topic in case anyone had some specific questions or were thinking about doing a cost effective lift (no spacer or pre-loading springs) without going too crazy. This is for anyone looking to add a little height to their daily driver and not have to worry about any real disadvantages when modifying their truck.

After 18 months and 20k miles I finally decided to lift my OR DCLB. Before lift pic the stock suspension, tires are 265/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers.

    before lift.jpg

I wanted to bump it up about 2 inches and maintain the factory rake so I went with:

    OME 885 coils
5100s (2nd gen) all around, front set to 0
Wheelers 3 leaf Progressive AAL with overload leaf left in
    Driver side 1/4 in spacer

Did the ECGS bushing replacement as a preventive measure.

Gained about 2.25 inches front and back right after install, I anticipate the springs will settle about 0.5 - 1.0 inches in a week or so.

No need for aftermarket UCAs and no issues with alignment. Tires are the same 265/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers mounted on the 17 inch 4Runner Pro wheels.

    After lift.jpg After lift front.jpg

Hard to tell with the slope of my driveway but the rear is about 0.75 inches higher in the rear than front even with the toolbox and 100lbs of stuff in it.

I decided to keep the overload leaf in because I usually run with 3-500 lbs of crap in the bed on weekends and two people in the back seat. I don't want the truck loaded to look like it's dragging its ass around. To me at proper truck should look higher in the back unloaded, not level.

Rides just like the OEM Bilstein shocks which I really liked, just wanted to have a little more height without making the tires look too small. That's part of the reason I waited so long to lift, I really wanted to retain the OEM OR suspension feel. Some might think it's too floaty, I think it rides like a dream.

    4 days after lift.jpg

Here it is on level ground, four days after lift install, front and back have settled about half an inch, 1.75 front and back lifted overall and still retains the factory rake even with the additional weight of the long bed and full toolbox (about an inch higher in the rear when compared to the front).

    3-4 side lift.jpg

Very pleased with the lift overall. Parts together were less than $800 and it rides just like the TRD OR with just under two inches of height while retaining the factory rake. I think the 265/70 /17 or 265/75/16 tire size is the truck sweet spot with regards to performance, price, looks and capabilities; no need to re-gear, re-calibrate the speedo, modify fenders or do a cab mount chop.

Truck use is about 75% on road as my daily driver (40 mile round trip interstate daily commutes ) with some fire trails and beach runs to the Carolina Outer Banks on the weekends.

Couldn't be happier with the results.

I have the exact same truck. I just ordered the 5100's, I was trying to figure out what my next step was, 885's or 887's. I think I found my solution. I was probably going to run 265/75s. I'd like to throw some 285s at some point.

887 will probably put you level with the rear if you go the same route I did in the back.

That'll work for me. I went to a shop here in town. They told me to get a readylift 3/1 "puck" kit. I walked out of there. This is the route I'm taking. Ur saying 887s at 0 will have me level with the rear? I'm in!

Nice info. 265's are great for what your mentioned above....but IMO look too dinky on a DCLB. 285's are the sweet spot.

Yes, I know... I don't skip leg day, I don't want my truck to look that way either... this set up would work then with 285s? As for the rear I wasn't going to use an AAL... I went to Toyota for service the other day and seen an inferno sb, I thought I'd trade my Lb in. Walking to the parking lot work and seen my qs out there... no way in hell.. sorry to totally off topic..

Ya 285's fit fine with a few inch lift like OP did. I had little to no rubbing.
    Yes, QUicksand is best sand

Prefer the nimble, lighter feel of the smaller tire when driving over how it looks when I'm outside the truck.

Might be nose up if you go 887 and leave the rear stock. Do the front first and if it is, go with the AAL later. 285's will have no issues fitting a stock rear end.

Might as well throw the AAL. I know there is a ton on info on here , but we literally have the same truck lol. Doesn't the rear 5100 add an inch?

The shock doesn't add height, the leafsprings do. My 3 leaf Progressive with O/L left in gave it about 1.75 with the toolbox. If you remove the overload leaf you'll get about 1.5 inches in the rear. The 5100 allows for more shock travel with the additional height the AAL gives.

@jsinnard : Your truck looks good man.
What tool box did you get? Looks like the UWS. Been thinking of going a similar route only with the 887s + Dakar pack in the back. But seeing your setup with 885+ AAL, seems more practical.

    Decisions... decisions
I wouldn't want to skip leg day. 285s sure are tempting. Not as practical for my daily driving but they sure look BOSS.

Yep, UWS lowpro, have one in each of the trucks. The 1st gen box is about 10 yrs old, still looks great and functions perfectly. That's why I got another one for the 3rd gen.
    20160416_091053.jpg

That pic with both trucks is pre lift of the 3rd gen.

    I love it !!! " I don't skip leg day " finally an analogy I can use ;) . I'm going with 887's 5100's all around ....I'm torn between the 3aal and full firm Dakars ? But 285's for sure .

Nice, I'm on a very similar set up but the 888s and upper control arms and 34x10.50 K02s, mine also rides awesome actually better than stock in my opinion. Where abouts in Va. Are you located?

I assume with that setup your at least at 2.75" total suspension lift ? Plus the tire's ..probably 3" ?
I think the way your set you " need " the UCS's .
    2.5-2.75" it's pretty much optional unless it's purely for off-roading ?
