Bet that was super easy to put on. No lifting over a full spare.

Yeah it was super easy. Way lighter than the ARE cap I had on my last truck.

You took it off alone?! Impressive

Anyone here running a fumoto quick oil drain valve? I do my own maintenance and the last time I changed the oil it was a mess dealing with hot/warm oil. Hopeing this can help.

I am! But on my Subaru. I've only done one oil change with it so far, but man is it nice. I have the short nipple one since my drain plug is at an angle, but with the tacomas being straight down, the regular fumoto should be good. Just get the little clip for the extra piece of mind.

Got the third brake light wired up! @Blackout14 had no idea if it worked, but I tested it on my drill battery and it does! I also lucked out in that there's a small extension between my trucks wiring harness and my taillight for the aftermarket hitch and trailer harness. I tapped into that to keep my truck wiring clean. Haven't tested it yet though since wife didn't want to come press the brake pedal in the rain.

Getting that bundle of wires and goop off the ledge was a pain! I had to get channel locks and put a lot of muscle into it. Was surprised at how well it stuck on there.

I considered the vantech rack for my shell. With that load plus people sleeping in the tent I would expect dents/failure of the aluminum around those towers, regardless of the size of the backing plate. In My opinion tracks are needed to spread the load for sure.

He's got the aluminum cap, so he can just drill straight through into the cross bars.

i dont care about tracks. I need a rack this week. I think one of these will be able to handle my needs for the time being. I dont want to waste a prinsu on my contractor cap.

Have seen this rack that Scott made. It is great!
Also, thinking about what David is doing from the post above, I think Scott added reinforcement inside the shell that will help support more weight on top. Not totally sure about that, but I seem to recall that he did.

Judging by the inside of the roof on the cap, it looks to be internally reinforced. Not sure if they're all like this, but the middle part is visibly thicker. Plus I'll have like 100lbs up there MAX.

Buy a prinsu, hate it on the contractor cap, then sell it to me for the price of a slurpee. Problem solved.

Was thinking of David's issue above. Sorry. I was having two conversations in one post.
