Came back home from the coast and the AC broke within 2 hours of being back

 

at least the front that moved through cooled it down just a touch tonight. check your capacitors outside. usual culprits. cheap and easy swap.

 

Just a bunch of wind here, no rain.

 

we got clipped by the east end of it. lots of thunder and crazy lightning but only enough rain to wet the ground.

 

It was nice to get some here. Knocked the dust down. Probably will be hard to breathe tomorrow am.

 

Ugh the best deals are always at the worst timing. Hopefully it will sit around another week or so.

No cool front or rain here. Still 91 outside. Using our home warranty and have the AC service company on the way. Just hoping it's completely broken and needs replacement since it's 16 years old.

 

Warranty sounds much better. Go out with a hammer real quick finish it off

You hit the nail on the head. Was the capacitor. This damn thing just won't break down so we can replace the entire system under warranty.

 

Both mine went out within a week. Including the fan motors. Right around the 10 year point. As for Tha capacitor, cheap enough to have a spare on hand if they go out. Couple wires and you're back up and running.

 

Our outside unit was already replaced and is ~9 years old and the indoor unit is original and 15 years old so I know we're on borrowed time with them. Yeah I watched him replace the capacitor an it seems straightforward enough

 

Ugh, effing AC. I think I dumped around $8000+ on the AC at my last house. First to replace the evaporator coil and lines when it went belly up the first summer we lived there. Then a couple years later when we moved out, I had the condenser unit replaced when I turned the house into a rental as a preventative measure. Replacing it was only a matter of time any way.
