SR5 vs TRDOR

What the OP said is true. The Builder does suck. For Instance I'm On in it now. So Far I have a 2017 Pro with a Manual in Cement Gray next option is packages. There are none. You mean to tell me that in Tacomas Top model there are no packages I might be able to add on to the truck???!?!?!?

 

That's great to know that the SR5 can be upgraded to the premium audio system.
The good thing about the SR5 is that it comes with color matched fender flares like the TRD sport for buyers who prefer color matched flares.
I like the matte black plastic flares better but I'm concerned about them fading as the trucks starts to age. I live Northern West Virginia and we don't get a lot of sunlight here in the winter and fall months but it doesn't take much before those matte black flares start fading.

 

Hmmmm. Not sure why you would want to add "Packages" to the "Top Model"??

Don't have any problem with my black flares fading in Virginia. Neither truck has ever been in the garage, the first gen is 13 years old and it's flares are holding up pretty well.

 

Wow! That first gen is in great shape. The flares on it still looks good as new. You must wax those trucks 2-3 times a year.

 

The thing is the are no packages to add. Not saying I would add them but just saying.

Maybe two times a year and some 303 protectant when I do. The trucks are parked all day in the sun at work too, just yards from the oceanfront. No issues with black fade or peeling clear coat.

Hell, I only wash them every few weeks or so, gold and tan never look dirty and that's why I keep getting that color as it's easiest to maintain. I just try to keep the birdshit off as much as I can.

Yep, OP was another guy who thought the Tacoma popularity and resale reputation equated to the perfect driving experience. Turns out he wasn't in the market for a Toyota in the first place and would have bought the wrong truck.

Trd sport offroad and pro are the only way to get a manual now. The rest are suspension upgrades and creature comforts. I went for a trd off road with a 6mt and tow pacakge. I didnt want to spend 2300 bucks on a moon roof, heated and cooled seats, bkind spot monitoring and parking sensors.

 

Again, read the first post. Guy was looking to buy and wanted to know the difference between models. His edit even says he bought an f150. The need to bump a dead thread that OP clearly wrapped up in the first post boggles the mind.

 

When I was in the market I wanted to know the differences in all the trim packages it would've been nice to find the thread that listed them all. I didn't add it for him as much as someone else trying to compare the models. I'm sorry your mind is boggled

I saw a member say that the OR has a larger differential than the SR5.

I thought the only difference in the rear axle was the locker. Is this true? And what does "larger differential" mean..different gear ratio?

 

It means physically larger. The Offroad has an 8.75" axle vs 8" on the non-ORs. At least for the 2016 year, anyway. I don't know if this changed after that MY
