The wind drag is gonna hurt you the most. And yeah, I carry a shit ton of spare parts and tools. Rally can be hard on cars. So far at every event I've been making repairs or modifications at the mid day service.

So I'm the luckiest mfer here right now.

We bought that huge ass generator at Costco for 549 last month getting ready for the trailer to come. We started it once and it's loud as hell but we didn't mind for desert camping.... Well today we were having lunch with my mom and step dad and we started talking about the trailer. Showed them the floor plans and what not. Told them we bought a generator....

Then my step dad says, "Hey, we have am extra generator...." Then my mom says, "Yeah, get it out of the garage...."

It turns out he has a 2006 Honda EU3000si just sitting in their garage. Their new camper has an Onan built in so they don't need it. They just gave it to us. We are going to service it tomorrow fully. It misses on idle so I think the carb needs to be cleaned out

Returned that generator. It was too heavy to lift in the back of the truck.

It looks like your front axle is already bent... have you checked?

It's only 5206 lbs empty, which is the way I hauled it. Around 565 pounds at hitch. With weight distribution hitch it's not too bad actually. I just stay around 60 mph and still get 16 mpg. Has brake controller and all, so just have to be safe and pay attention! Have air bags/ helper springs on the way to help keep it level and tighten up the rear suspension a bit.

There is no way you get 16mpg towing 5200 lbs. My trailer is 4600lbs and I am happy at 10mpg but with hills and such I am around 8-9. Whatever your magic is I need some.

Actually I have hauled it twice. The first time was approximately 65 miles and avg mpg was 15.8 on almost all level roads with avg speed of 54 mph. The second time I went a lot further. About 230 miles. And that was to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Long as it was level or downhill it was great. Uphill for 2- 3 miles or more at a time and it would drop into the high 9 or 10 range like you said. But overall on that trip I did still get 13.2 avg. there and back. I will not normally pull it in the mountains. And 15.8 mpg on level ground is close enough to 16 for me! One thing I did not do is keep my foot in it the whole time, trying to muscle the trailer down the road. I did not drive fast and it stayed in s4 gear unless I was going downhill. Then I shifted it to s5.

It looks like the front wheel set has more negative camber than the rear set. It's a picture, i could be reading it wrong

Also, so good for you that you tow at 54mph. That's a rare quality these days

And not necessary depending on your state.

In Michigan you're only required to drive 55 with a double-axle or larger. Single axle trailers can zoom zoom along at the speed limit all day (70-75 depending on the highway)

But of course you would be Stupid to zoom along at 70-75 towing a trailer !

I try to stay around 60 like I said, but really that's as fast as I care to go hauling a trailer like this. Especially with a Tacoma! If I had a 5th wheel and a 1 ton, I'd be feel better about doing 65 or 70... but bumper pulling ain't like pulling a 5th wheel! I am still not convinced pulling 5200 lbs with this truck won't lay waste to the tranny in short order! Some of the grades on highways in Tennessee made me think I was gonna burn the darn thing out from under the truck. No smell or anything, but the way it sounds droning on, high up in the rpm's.... I would not be surprised to hear metal on metal then see the cloud of smoke boil out from under the truck! That's one thing that is horrible about these trucks! The way they set it up for mpg! Needs low end to mid range improvements for towing!
