    I have a 13 Access Cab and it's not capped for whatever that's worth. I can't recall if it leaks as I never thought to look. And I live in hot and humid Columbia, SC where the only thing that separates us from Hell is a screen door!

    Well, I spoke to the service department at the dealership where the truck was sold new. His answer seemed reasonable. He said the reason the hole had become uncapped in the newer models was to keep condensation from spilling into the blower motor causing the blower motor to screech, which is an issue my cousin's 09 has had. He said he had seen the issue before,but didn't mention a fix for the problem. I'll just live with it I guess. I sure appreciate all of the input from you guys!

    I'm wondering now if I could get a hose stretched over the hole and "T" into the drain hose and run it out with the other drain water... again, it's not too bad and I'd hate to disrupt the flow in the hose. I will study on it and see what I come up with.

    That's what I'd investigate doing.

    What I find odd is that my 8 year old, 140k mile, lived in Florida its whole life '09 has that well capped off--and the original blower shows no signs of screeching;

    What I find disturbing is why Toyota apparently designed the evaporator housing in such a way that some amount of condensate was retained, allowing it to invade the blower motor; and then felt having condensate drip into the cabin was an acceptable resolution to their poorly designed housing...

    And you find this acceptable? Must be one of those "generational things"...

    Not sure what is meant by the "generational" comment?? Mine has done this 2 times that I know of in 2 years. It is less than a teaspoon of water. No I do not find it acceptable so I am left to weigh my options.

    1. Still under warranty and could take to dealer and have them rip the truck apart, say they can't replicate problem, and live with all the new rattles they have created. Nope,they can't be trusted to change my oil, not asking them.

    2. Look into it myself and risk the same consequences. Not worth my time at this point.

    That pretty much describes the last 4 to 5 years of my first (21 years in total) marriage--but we waited 'til the kid was 18...

    I meant as in very few of my contemporaries (68 to 74 YO "boomers"), or at least the ones I ride with, would just shrug and live with AC condensate dripping into the cabin...

    Is the "hole" on yours open or capped? If open what is the build date--mine , manufactured in 06/09, is capped...

    Mine is capped. I'm guessing it takes awhile to fill up before it drips. I have weathertech floor mats. If I had the factory carpet mats I would have never noticed it

    My point is simply that gravity is a very dependable mechanism, if this thing needs to drain why not have it do it through a "downhill" hole in the firewall or floorboard?

    A plumber told me 50+ years ago there were only two things you needed to know about waste water plumbing:
    1. Water runs downhill;
    2. Don't lick your fingers;

    I have the factory rubber mats--no dripping even today after 90 miles each way in air so thick you could cut it with a knife..

    Mine has only dripped on drives over 10 hours. When we go on trips we only stop for gas and we usually don't turn the truck off. We have made several 19 to 20 hour drives like this
