No kidding! My brother wants me to golf with him on Saturday AND cook him one of my briskets. I told him he gets one or the other.

I could do something like a loin, though.

You may be happy with your thermopro but what he has is an ATC. It controls the temps of your pit for you with a blower. And a couple of meat probes also. So for $450 your getting a $400 WSM and a $200+ ATC. And can still use your thermopro if you want to. I'd offer $400 but I have been told that I am tighter than the bark on a tree before. Then again that was my Ex wife LOL.

It is not that I am tight, I just like getting a better deal than it already is. And I am a serial low baller on CL. Plus that thing is not really needed, so it has to be worth it to me.

I've got the 14 & 18 WSM...but I'd still buy that. Looks like some decent upgrades for a good price. He posted it 2 weeks ago and updated the post a week ago. I bet he hasn't gotten many bites...or at least many serious ones.

I'm a hardcore lowballer too...but I guess because it doesn't bother me when I get low balled. I expect it...got to start somewhere.

You don't NEED an ATC of course. But once you use one it is awfully hard to go back to not using one. I did my smoke today with my BBQ Guru while I was working from home including a couple of conference calls. And never once gave pit temps a second thought.

Damn that thing has never been used. Doubt he even mounted the adapter on it for the Guru yet.

2nd, I will think of you as I watch the temp of my grill and my meat while I watch the ball game. :p
3rd, just kidding, I will probably be asleep.

I have a 14 already and love it, but I just got a Costco membership today and foresee more brisket smokes in my future.

It was challenging to say the least on the 14 to smoke one last week.

You all convinced me. Gonna get that setup if the deal works out.

I see people have a love affair with sweet baby Ray's, and I'm sure their original sauces were awesome... But what they sell in the stores now is loaded with hfcs. No real BBQ sauce has hfcs in it. I've sweetened my sauces with molasses, honey, brown sugar, maple syrup, and probably some other sweeteners that I can't remember...but never with hfcs. Weber has a line of sauces without hfcs that are excellent, but not as cheap as some of the others like sweet baby Ray's.

I expect to get low balled and find it amusing.

This one time I was selling a rare set of staggered Rays Engineering Nismo branded wheels for a Nissan Z car. Listed them at $2400 fully ready, willing, and able to take the first $1800 offer. One guy offers $600, so I ask him if he wants a front or rear wheel, and that I will probably have some trouble selling the other 3 wheels separately. He was not amused.

The sale of those wheels brought some strange ones out the woodwork.

No argument from me. I rarely sauce at all. If it's just me, a bottle of anything would last me a year. I get why people like it, though.

    This right here.

I prefer the flavor to be put on prior to cooking and eat it on its merits, and show respect to the person cooking it. Unless it really is awful.

Yeah. Sauce just seems like a coverup for bad cooking.

Got a friend who says "sauce is the boss!", I say you been going to Chili's too much or watching too much tv. Go somewhere that treats the goods proper, you won't need that coverup.
