Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!

Our boxer is very excitable and a very happy dog. He loves to greet people and show them how much he loves them, but he gets a little wild. We are trying our best to correct it, but he is a boxer. So some are intimidated. This weeked, my aunt watched him while my wife and I were away. It sounds like she got a chance to understand what he is really about. She was very happy with him. I hope she learned that his behavior when she comes over is not him, but just his excitement. My uncle (her brother), also my neighbor, has a peek-a-poo. The MOST obnoxious dog. Take something out of the fridge and it goes crazy. Barks at you and jumps at the counter. I know thats their fault, but it seems small dogs get away with bad behavior more often. And he is SOOOO smart but they let him get away with murder. Just seems like little dogs don't always get the same discipline as big dogs cause people think they are harmless. They aren't, they are still dogs.

My turn to add my brood:

From top to bottom on the picture: Locmo an epileptic lab mix seized from a druggie family member. He actually has to sleep in the crate at night, after he had two seizures in a row, spraying everything with urine during both. Bear in the middle is my male Great Pyrenees. He is my pal, and curls up beside me at night. Snow is my only female, and is more typical of the breed. She'll come greet you, and then go off someplace to look sleepy while keeping an eye on you:

While I didn't go through every page, I didn't see where anyone happened to have a miniature horse accidentally on purposefully end up in one of their replies. Here is Dakota, my four year old Miniature Stallion doing what horses do best:

He mows my yard, and gives the two Great Pyrenees a "job" to do - "guard" livestock. :D

Blaine, He's a full blooded Doberman Pincher. About to be three within the next month and still acts like a puppy!

Thanks, Someone asked earlier what kind of pup he is. Sorry it took so long, I've been really busy at work. He is a Bluetick coonhound, named Neyland. He is 5 months old now, only about 9 weeks in that pic.

    URGENT WARNING!

Got this in an email just now from rescue people--this is NOT an Forward with no basis in reality!

I came straight here after I read this email. Please take away any stuffed toys that your dogs may have that are not specifically made for dogs! My dogs do not usually eat their toys, but sometimes out of the blue, they will start on one, so even if your dog does not eat them, please take them anyway!!! Spread the word to any dog lovers that you know as well!

"Last night at agility class, a vet, who is a fellow agility student was telling us about a case she had this week. The dog ate a child's teddy bear and was very sick. When she opened the dog up to remove what she thought was an intestinal obstruction she found a huge gelatin type mess inside and the dogs intestines were black and the tissue dead. The dog will die no surgery can fix him up there was no living intestine left from stomach to colon.
This was not an obstruction. .... so she called the manufacturer of the Teddy Bear on a quest to find out what the gel was and what killed the dog. Turns out the stuffing in children's toys contains ingredients for flame retardants and mite control! It is designed to be come a gel. It is highly toxic. Now you would think a child's toy would be safe because it is for children, but they don't expect a child to eat the stuffing of the toys... huummmm that seems a bit scary too. But we all know dogs demolish stuffed toys.
So do not give or buy your dog any children's stuffed animals... some people get them at goodwill etc. The vet will be posting a warning and story and I will send any other facts as needed and as I learn more. Maybe some children's toys do not have this ingredient, but better to be safe then sorry. So meanwhile, make sure all your dog toys are for dogs. Please pass this on... it is a horrible death she described and one that can be avoided."
