Hey guys, I just bought a Taco, so my wallet's definitely not over stuffed! LOL

I'm looking for seats and I'm even thinking about a set of Wet Okole covers so I can start screwing around with the padding and try to add some on the front of the seat. That's not going to make it any longer, but it sure might help with the perceived pressure.

And if I do go with the Wet Okoles, I can re-cover the arm rest (and add some elevation to it) then cover it with neoprene. Now how cool would that look?

I appreciate all the advice and responses I'm getting. If any of you know of any tricks on the steering column adjustment, I'd like to hear those too.

+1 again for the wallet removal. It helps with the leaning forward and to the right a bit.

I understand a little about back pain, and 100% of the population will experience it, so says my doctor. I have no medical background but if I was to guess, the truck is not the reason, it is only bringing this problem front and center. Would other vehicles feel better to you ? most definitely, but since this is your choice may I suggest that you have a seat made for yourself. Millions of people have shoes made to order, insteps, suites, you name it. This is the one back that you have, it's worth the money. :)

Ok. What kind of shape are you in? For every 1 pound in the front it exerts around 10 pounds on your spine.

I have some back problems and I have to say the Tacoma seats have been quite comfortable to me. I had a 2003 Tacoma and made two 900 mile road trips non stop without any issues. Got the 2005 Tacoma and made a 3000+ mile road trip over a couple of days with a 8 month pregnant wife and neither of us complained about the comfort of the seats and our backs.

I guess it all depends on the person in the seat. IMHO they are quite comfortable.

I also drive a Ford F150 for a work rig and that thing kills my legs.

Lastly, I swear there was another thread started about this very issue with almost the same exact title. Suspect to me and my senses though.

I know other seats have been comfortable to me only to realize I was slouching in a bad position so when I finally sat in a seat with the proper posture it hurt. Same with my bed. Wife and I got a memory foam mattress because she's had 2 back surgeries, and I have lower back pain I've never done anything about. The first few couple nights we had the new mattress I tossed and turned all night and barely slept. It was too uncomfortable. I thought about returning it! It took a couple weeks for my back to stop hurting when I woke up in the morning. I think it has more to due with my back being realigned by sleeping in a better supporting position. Now I wake up without back pain, and it doesn't come back until late at night if at all.

Same thing with the taco seats IMO. Felt weird at first. Comfortable, but not REALLY comfortable when new. Now after a couple years they seem to have softened a bit and are great. About a year ago my last job would hurt my back. I'd be relieved to get in the truck for the drive home! :D

I got high quality sheepskins which help distribute the weight evenly over the entire seat.

I was experiencing some discomfort before that and now it's gone.

I DID NOT buy cheap ones you slip over yourself. I spent several hundred dollars getting very thick, custom covers. They do make a difference.

Stock seat is too firm to allow the body to drape over all seating surfaces evenly.

Sheepskins eliminated that. Plus, now i'm warm in winter and cool in summer with real material not man made plastic under me.

    I do 100 - 300 miles a day and they are a lifesaver
drive 300 miles each way to the mountains in the winter and no back pain

I'm trim and I too experienced back issues with the Tacoma. And, similarly never had any issues with other vehicles, including Cherokees. Do a wide search and you will find that this problem has been experienced by a number of people. My solution was to go to foam rubber shop and purchase seat quality foam. I cut some thin strips and repacked the back cushion several times before finding a comfort level. This made a significant improvement although I still find my back tires after about an hours drive time.

i am 6'4" 230lbs, i have back problems and sometimes roll up a towel and put it between the seat and my lower back. lumbar seats are not meant to remedy pre-exsisting back issues. i suspect its not the truck

I can relate. My 08 taco is killing me. It blows my mind because this is my third one and I never had any problems before. My last one was a 2000 and everything was cool. If there is one thing toyota needs to do with this truck it's redesign the seats. They need to start making the ones they sell over here to fit americans. The problem is they are just to tiny for most guys and the seats bottoms do not project out far enough to properly support your legs. A adjustment that tilted the seat down and back would also help loads. Good luck with yours, I am hoping mine will break in to my body

    Yo, Dawg-

Is it the Tacoma or you? Just b/c you can't get comfortable in your Tacoma doesn't mean it's the Tacoma.

You're getting "blood work" done? For lower back pain? From your Tacoma? Get real!

Start getting some more exercise - sit ups and abdomen training are the number one recommended exercise for back pain.

And stop complaining. Or sell the truck.

I love the seats - I have had backache with many of the cars I have been in, and none with the Taco. Sat in the seat for 15 hrs one day (900 miles) and nary a hint of pain.
