    Weatherproofing Camper shell 7/10/17:
Recently I decided to take initiative to try and weatherproof my camper shell from all of the dust and leaking that occurs when exposed to the elements. I bought the shell used and since day one I have been experiencing all sorts of leaking issues and when I take it off-roading dust fills the bed through all of the nooks and crannies. Needless to say its a PITA having the carpet liner smell like mold when it gets wet and vacuuming the dust out of the carpet after a trip. So with all that said its time to finally take care of this.

I have taken measures in the past to try to prevent leaks by running silicone along the Thule rack tracks and that did help with that specific location however there is a load of other spots that still need treatment. More on this another day.

For now I really want to handle the dust situation, its summer and likely in Southern California we wont see rain anytime soon so I can put the whole leaking situation on the back burner for the time being. The biggest issue is at the tailgate, there really isn't anything in place stock to weatherproof or more so prevent dust from entering from the gaps in the tailgate. I made a trip to Home Depot and picked up some weather-stripping with adhesive and got to work.

After installing the weather-stripping there isn't a visible gap with the tailgate closed anymore. I plan on purchasing more and applying it to all of the sides of the campershell hatch to ensure dust doesn't enter from there either. Will follow up with the rest soon

    Bed stiffeners and Hi-Lift:
Received my @At The Helm Bed Stiffeners in the mail Saturday. Really stoked with them, look great and feel very solid. With the amount of weight my bedside supports will be under with my shell, rack and soon to be RTT I figured I would invest in supporting them. Spent some time yesterday to paint them (I applied 5 coats of Rustoleum primer and paint in flat black).

Seeing as I purchased my Hi-Lift Jack used and it was mounted to the exterior of the previous owners vehicle, there is a small amount of rusting. I bought a wire brush and some 1000 grit sand paper to clean all of that off and smoothen out some paint imperfections. I went to home depot and bought some gloss black paint and primer and some gloss red paint and primer to repaint the lever arm, foot, and top clamp in black and the steel bar in red. I'm going to spray two coats of clear coat later today to seal the deal.

It won't be really noticeable ever as far as ride quality. It is more so a preventative measure, since I have the shell, rack and ordering a RTT next week it will be a lot of weight on the bedsides. This will keep the bedsides from spreading from the direct weight on them. It will be nice having the additional tie downs and bottle opener however

I'm fortunate enough to be in a position to where I can get time off somewhat frequently but it's still tough. I'm hoping this investment in a RTT will get me out more, I have a to do list of places I want to visit and now I just need to make the time

Just an update I have a 200 pound freight shipment on its way. Teaser, it is big, boxy and may or may not go on top of my rack

    Welcome!

Haha its actually not FSR. The company isn't even based in Oregon but I went though a vendor who is located there who doesn't charge out of state tax. Just throwing everyone off the trail

I'm happy with them. Might do some modifications in the future with some HIDs but the output is still better than stock and they looks really unique so all and all I'm pretty happy.

Dude in a Tacoma rolled up to me at a stoplight and asked where I got them yesterday so I'm happy others like the look too!

Aren't they made by Spyder? I was thinking of using them and ordering this kit from TRS https://www.theretrofitsource.com/complete-retrofit-kits/morimoto-retroquik-spyder.html?preselect=51266,47860,51812,50560
