I'd like to wrap my hood to keep the chips down and maybe help stop a little glare on my silver Tacoma.

Lady at my Church wrapped her whole jeep a few years ago, she decided to take it off, and guessing from the heat in Louisiana, it had baked itself on, and they couldn't get 1/3 of it off. They tried everything and its like permanently on there. And it did mess up some of the paint. Not saying it will, but i have seen one of the con's....

Sounds like whoever wrapped her vehicle didn't use the right kind of vinyl. I bet they just used regular sticker vinyl and not the kind made specifically for wrapping automobiles. Either that, or she kept the vinyl on way too long. Normal exposure to the elements (even getting blasted with sun all the time) will not cause that to happen with a high quality vinyl.

If I am reading you right even if she used the correct stuff normal exposure to the elements will cause that to happen if she left it on too long. What is too long?

Depends on the vinyl. Generally speaking, most automotive vinyls should only be left on for 3-5 years.

It was an automotive based wrap. It had her business logo milled inside of it. I dont think it was on there but 2-3 years. The sun and heat did it. Thats the kind of stuff most people dont know about. And they dont tell you when you have it done

I would love to do this. But the 2nd gen bumper is hard to wrap pre facelift ... everything else would seemingly be super easy

Thanks. I retrofitted them myself with some morimoto D2S projectors. Man that was a minute ago!
I prefer Avery Dennison SUPREME SW900. It has the air release so you really can’t mess up with bubbles unless you try.
In fact, I just got done wrapping the wife’s new grocery getter with the same brand. I love the stuff!

Damn that looks nice! I would be easy for me to do everything except the back of the cab, and the front bumper.

For those of you worried about permanent adhesion to the paint, I’m thinking if you wax the truck (then wash it) prior to wrapping it, might help. I’ve not tried this, but seems like it would help

Very well done. The wife just got a used GX460 for a grocery getter that I would like to wrap. Mind sharing what color this is and how many hours it took?
