It's not polished, so 12579 seems to be the right part no.

 

Yeah, mine's not to bad with the 18", but I did have to put a Resonator on it to quite it down.

Yeah, I was referring to the 5x8 mufflers... That's the version that Magnaflow's catback system uses... Don't know why I just thought URD would have went with something similar. Assumption on my part.... Anyway, back to it.

If you can see gray/brown weldings, it's not polished.

 

Nope that's the polished... Satin Magnaflow mufflers are very satin and not nearly that polished... Just welded one in my friends Tundra a couple weekends ago. Also, I ordered the Polished for my truck specifically, and the welds look the same.

My assumption of why they used a different bigger muffler is because they removed 2 cats and wanted to restrict it just enough not to get a CEL. But i dont know anything so dont quote me on that.

 

Naw, CEL isn't thrown from the rear cats. O2 sensors pull from first/primary set of cats.
Most likely a noise/volume reason. Like I said I have a 18" Magnaflow and had to add a Vibrant Ultra Quite Resonator to quite it down to a nice low growl

I need to wait 4 weeks for carchemistry.com they are doing a 2.75" silencer. Apparently does wonders.

 

I finally got around to installing my Spec-U exhaust. I agree that it would be nice if the y-pipe hangers were used, there isn't a substantial weight savings to justify the lack of hanger usage. Also the fitment at the rear hangers on a $1000+ should be MUCH better. Having to trim the pipes to fit a system in this price range doesn't make sense to me. Even after trimming the pipe before the muffler to move the tailpipe forward the hangers at the front of the tailpipe don't line up well. Luckily I have a MT so I didn't have the O2 sensor interference issues.
