I used to live on the Cape a long time ago and we never used a permit! Anyway, the amount open changes at any time, you never know. This is today and all that is open is driving to the beach and back. About a half a mile, just enough to keep the surf casters happy. That situation is more often than not, just so you know.

I can take it. I drive a Ford and am on a Tacoma forum, it's sort of expected.

Not straight up, I'm hunched over but being short does help. I can stand up enough to change my clothes, I've had to do it for soccer several times.

 

Not like I haven't rebuilt a few engines before anyways. Plus you'll hear a bearing issue before failure most times than not

 

Then you have the type that turn the radio up to ignore a noise, dont take the truck in for service and neglect adds up. Worst i saw at work was a snapped crank and 6 broken rods, from a timing chain guide that fell off into the oil pan

 

That'll do it. The old 22re's were notorious for plastic timing chain guide failure and down into the oil pan it goes

 

BMW's for a while too. Not sure if it's still an issue but when I was writing service the late 90's/early 00's were experiencing them pretty regularly. Saw a couple of E38 and E39's personally that it had happened to. Folks up in Maine on their summer vacations when suddenly their engine would eat itself.

Edit- Those are some CRANKY people. Nothing like telling some rich guy from 'Noo Yawk' that his 5 year old Bimmer needs a new motor.

Between all of my family members, we've had 12 Subarus that I can think of - possibly 15. Only 1 had an engine issue from a teenage nephew running his out of oil. They've been great cars.

 

Our 13 got a new motor last year

 

I think he's partially refering to quite a few needing head gaskets and the timing belts done at 90 to 100k

 

I've read about the head gasket issues but, luckily, we haven't had any issues over the years. The family currently has 5. A cousins GT did need a turbo at 120k.

 

I think it's $150, or only $50 off season

 

I've done the head gaskets on them twice before and they're not terrible, just a lot of hours taking the motor out is mostly what it is

 

My 2014 ate oil like a fat kid eats cake. My sisters 2015 fozz uses 1 quart every 7500, mine used 2.
