Subaru had a bad run with the 2008-2014 wrx/sti motors and a few other ones. I used to send customers that came in for compression/leak down tests straight to the dealer for stock block swaps. A brand new lower end block complete was 1600$ out the door for me. In 2014 we had a count of about 40 or so that had new motors dropped in under warranty that originally came in for motor issues and we just sent them right to the dealer. The dealers loved us - we'd send them the blown cars, they get the cash to warranty them and send it back to us and we did break-in on the dyno and then mod them for the customer. Ringlands for days....

Had a few 2015 STI's come in with less than 5k that needed new motors.
My 2012 spun a bearing - turned out the crank shaft was out of spec when I had a machine shop investigate the mode of failure. Car was on wastegate pressure with a de-tuned pro-tune to do breakin on a heavier clutch I dropped in when it popped too.

Weird, hadn't heard that. I know a guy at the dealer here who says he's seen a lot of rear main seals go, but that's it. He says beyond that those 5.7 Tundras never seem to have much go wrong with them.

 

I always bought the H6s mostly for the reason that they rarely ate head gaskets and you'd get similar power to the turbo engines but without the headache.

Also started gutting the FJ.

Clutch, 3.5" LT, rear suspension rebuild, and some miscellaneous odds and ends I never finished.

 

Anyone have any experience with husky floor mats ? I had weathertechs in my Honda but the huskys are cheaper. Looking to get a full set for my Silverado .

 

I have had Huskys in every truck I've owned. I finally bought Weathertechs for the rear of the F150 because I found them on sale and couldn't be more disappointed with them. I would take Husky over Weathertech any day. I'm pretty sure I have the Husky Weatherbeaters. I also bought MaxLiner brand mats for my wife's car because they were much less expensive than both Husky and Weathertech and they're working out great so far. The fit and finish was excellent, they look just like my Husky Weatherbeaters. Autoanything sells them.

 

I've got Huskeys and love them. Never had weathertech's, though. They fit great and nearly 2 years later they still look great, no signs of wear.
