Kinda like taking a governor off a motor.

I was wondering about this as I just went to Windows 7. While I was doing a little research to see if I wanted to install 64 bit to take advantage of the capabilities of my laptop - Many of the write ups mentioned that their computers were 'overclocked'.

Apparently, you can change the BIOS settings to run the processor faster. I think if I ran mine any faster I'd burn a hole in my leg!

I just use my computer to check email and look at porn, shop, and find information on the Internet. Certainly don't need anything fancy for that.

Dell desktop. I don't have a damn clue what it's stats are. It's black, grey, and slow as hell! I don't know how to make it faster so I'll probably just buy a new one.

My wife and I both have work laptops. I have slick little Macbook and she has a big ol' Gateway.

Toshiba Satellite A135-S4487. 2G Ram, 220 HD. Had for about 3 years and it has been a great laptop. Only problem is the battery is going bad. Battery will only power it for about 20-30 min.

Just dont buy a battery from the manufacturer. I have a link in my favorites (came w/ the computer) to Toshiba's website. I looked for a battery and they wanted like $100 for it. So i said screw that and didn't buy it. Later I was looking online and decided to try and find a cheaper one. The exact same battery was 1/2 the price on some other website. I still haven't bought one bc having it plug in isn't really a problem but I plan as soon as I start needing it at school.
