Pretty much ditto this for me. I'm in an '03 Tacoma with 5vz, SC and a TRD 7th kit.

Definitely interested in hearing about what you can do @OVTune .

I would be interested in a re-flash. I have an 03 reg cab 4cyl basic stripper for use in Baja and the fuel there is so bad that the CEL is on constantly. I wonder if there is a "Mexico" as opposed to the USA - California flash for the ECU.

I'm pretty sure the 4cyl never changed in Gen 1 aside from minor improvements. Only the V6 went to computer assisted throttle/cruise.

    sub'd for info for my '04 3.4 :D

Could be wrong but maybe something to do with the drive by cable trannies up until 03-04.

I believe he can control the fuel maps, possibly shift points and other various maps.

Only thing I know of there is no "kick-down" cable for the 03-04 trans like that on earlier >'02s. So this might have something to do with it :notsure:

    Right. That's what I meant.
The 03-04 transmission is controlled via drive by wire, or electronically. This makes sense therefore it is "hackable" and can be set to however the controller wants.
The 95-02 transmissions are controlled via drive by cable so it's more manual - not something that can be adjusted through a controller.

Actually it changed more than the 3.4 !

Original's actually had a distributor! Then they went thru 2 different coil plug variations. they also have 4 port and 8 port heads / intake manifolds. Definitely a bit of a :crapstorm: :)

Possible 3.4 mods based on the 4.0 and 3.5:

Please don't forget the 3.4 has ECT too! I'm drooling at the possibilities over here.
You also stated you can correct for bigger tires :fingerscrossed:
Also waiting to hear what you can do about a supercharged w/ URD 7th injector tune and if they can coincide.

Well my blower is going on my 03 when the v8 goes in frank.

But I don't think you can do anything to our ecus. Nothing substantial anyways.

Without having to swap a tranny I think there's a few options that could benefit an auto 5vz. I'll be optimistic considering he can crack a 4.0.

The trans cable is not a kick down cable. The trans is electronically controlled, hence "ETC". The transmission has a PWR mode which electronically changes the shift points in the trans ECU. The cable is ONLY for line pressure. You can pull it all the way back and tie it off and you'll notice very firm shifts. It does NOT change the kickdown point.
