Strong Chinese made steel blocks and a fine CNC cut chinese steel front spacer easily clears 7 grand, the price right here is a deal.

I went to look at the one modded by my local Toyota dealer on a tundra, $3500 for new rims, tires, and lift (lift was new shocks and spacers). looks good and yes someone did buy it. I know I wouldn't.

At toyota manhattan beach right now. They have a trd pro 4 runner in showroom. $10k markup. Insane. I got my Tacoma from here through Costco program. Paid incvoice plus $500. Crazy that these are selling. Dealerships wouldn't do it if they weren't.

It's crazy. They literally are saying we are going to charge you an extra $10k because we think you want it bad enough. Ha. On top of the profit they have already in msrp.

High demand decides market value. I'd never buy it but I'm all for it. Capitalism is good.

They don't want to sell it, it is just marketing. They put it out front or in the showroom and it drives people in to look at it, and then the salesmen will sell them on a different Tacoma or 4Runner or whatever it is, and act like they are getting a great deal because they got a few hundred under msrp when the truck they were looking at was 10k above msrp. If someone is willing to pay a huge markup they would be happy to sell this one, but most likely after some time with this one in the showroom they will want to change it up and do this to another vehicle, so they will sell this one to someone at a "huge discount".
The salesmen may even sell customers who looked at the truck by telling them they will throw in the grille free or "cheap" (which they will claim is worth $1600) or something else along those lines.
This truck is meant to make them money by driving other sales, not necessarily by trying to rip people off on just one truck. Much easier to do that in smaller amounts to everyone than just one person a huge amount.

    Exactly

Someone on the PRO thread (an educated member here who knows tons of trucks at invoice) in this section said they paid $3,000 ABOVE msrp for their pro last week in Vegas

This gentleman was "happy to pay" markup because he saw everywhere else it's 10,000+ msrp

    Plenty of suckers around ....

    Good read on markups

    http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/20...w-stickers-while-secretly-selling-at-invoice/

But is anybody actually stupid enough to fall for this? Does anybody ever walk in and pay full pop plus an additional $3,149? “Sometimes, yes,” said the GM of this particular store. “It’s almost always immigrants who don’t know any better.” While punching people labelled as Nazis may be up for debate, I think we can all agree that it’s okay to punch GMs who take advantage of immigrants.

“But,” he continued, “we actually only sell about 10 percent of our cars at MSRP or above. It’s psychological warfare — the customer feels like he’s getting a really great deal, but we know that we’re glad to sell the car at invoice, so anything above that is a win.”

I did a quick check of his third-party listings on the usual suspects, and noticed that he didn’t have any of the ADM added to his cars on the classified sites. “No, of course not. Nobody would click on them if we did that. We advertise at invoice, which is the minimum price that we’re allowed to advertise at.

“However, if you click through to our website, you’ll see that all of the cars have a little button that says ‘Click to unlock our Internet Specials.’ If they click that button, they have to fill out a contact form, including name, phone number, and e-mail. If they provide a valid e-mail, we’ll show them the real price — invoice minus holdback and all dealer fees. Every internet deal is a loser for us, but it helps us hit our sales targets.”

In case you’re not playing along at home, I’ll sum it up for you: the dealer marks up all of his cars on the sales floor, hoping that uneducated customers will fall for it, so that he can, in turn, sell the majority of his cars at a loss to smart shoppers, but only if they’re willing to give up a “lead.” It also allows him to advertise “sales” to pull in more traffic in the slower times, even though the sale price is, in most cases, essentially MSRP.

Yeah I asked about the pros and a salesmen said (yeah that's a 50k+ TTL truck! I can get you a good deal) I said nah, I don't feel like handing you 10k for no reason. He gave me some long BS but looked like he didn't really know what to say when I called them out on the markup.

At least it's a TRD Pro grill. My local dealer has taken all sport and off road models on the lot, painted the stock grills matte black and asking $1495 for the "modded" grill.

Yeah, the Santa Fe dealer, get this, said he charges $5000 over sticker just to order a Pro, arguing that the resale value is high!

Isn't the higher resale value supposed to benefit the customer? Not the salesman?
