Not just for manuals the auto will rev hang too. Just let off the gas right before a shift.

Okay everyone should have their file updates EXCEPT 04B01. This looks like Toyotas OLDEST version Automatic file, there is a ton of code changes for B03. Working on it!

Doesnt affect you guys, it matters when you actually shift your gears and have to wait for the rpms to match your next gear.

I am averaging 16.5 that's up from a 14 mpg average...Im on 285/70/17s, fiberglass cap, roofrack, sliders, and bumpers front & rear...So it's got some heft to it!! Plus there is a hill/mountain in every direction where I'm at...so flat open stretches are few and far between to get a picture of what milage would be like without pulling hills. So all in all pretty happy with the tune in tandem with the gears!

Im sure as OVTune rolls out more and more updates things will improve even further!

Your setup is very similar to mine in weight, tires, and hills. Good to know. On my best days I'm doing 14.5mpg so if I can get a few back (plus a little speed) from regearing, then tuning, I'd be so happy.

Is this 1.02? And since I didn't get a file in an email, does that mean I'm on that old auto file?

I have talked to OVTune on this for the ATs and he is looking into it. It is not a good thing when you let of the throttle and the engine stays at WOT for a second. It is something I would like fixed.

Received my Alpha tune last night and just uploaded to ECU. Only issue I've had while reading and writing is Windows keeps searching for the dongle drivers when I've already downloaded them. It did it when I read the ECU and again when uploading the Alpha tune. Anyway, I'll do an initial first impression review this afternoon after drive from work...

Initial impression, better acceleration when merging on to freeway. That's the biggest difference I noticed today on my 37 mile, mostly freeway, commute home from work. ECT throttle response was also better than stock but did not feel as much of an improvement in D mode. MPG was in my normal ranger at 23.9, I usually get 21-24. No stutter before or after the tune. Only modifications are a TRD Pro CAI and Catback. Dissapointed that the transmission tune isn't included yet.The transmission is still holding the motor back, still up shifting too early and not downshifting quicker when needing to accelerate as we all know too well. So looking forward to the tranny and 1.02 tune release.

for 04B01 it is not a 1.02 update yet.

Also so everyone understands MOST transmission controls for shifting, shift rpm / parameters etc is in the ENGINE ECU file.

The transmission file is for transmission pressures, delays, etc

Will this also make downshifting smoother and more predictable? This thing would be so much bette with a linear throttle and smooth downshifting/deceleration also.

it does for me in the MT. takes the weird throttle and power delivery and makes it normal... with a little added torque boost in the middle.

Maybe I missed something but I thought nothing changed in the 1.01 tune for the auto tranny calibrating or tune or whatever. The 1.02 tune will improve intake timing and throttle control on just the engine ecu while the transmission is another file all together. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Without the transmission update(1.02) you're really not going to get any responses like that. It's not easy to reach the 2700+ range where the big changes have been made with the current shift points because you're constantly being upshifted before you even reach 55mph. I beleive you reach 6th at around 45mph.

new to tuning naturally aspirated motors? driveability is what this is about. "rocketship" gains are not. you want that be prepared to pay for it, probably through an engine swap at this point.

and i can also say that, even in alpha 1.01, once my system recalibrated after the flash i am super happy with it. maybe a little more performance will come here and there (speaking for the MT's), so there's plenty for the drivers in this crowd to be excited about.
