I had 3 of my door lock actuators out for some time. I replaced the motors in each of them. 2 of the 3 work great now. The front passenger side, however, is locked shut. I can unlock the door lock from inside, and also with the FOB; but the door will not open. I'm thinking one of the linkages must have come loose.

How do I get the door open without having to drill into the door? I was thinking perhaps I could open the panel up enough to get to the actuator assembly, but not sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Mike

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Try the panel route or you can try to slim jim it

Had this happen on a girlfriends VW... Had to roll down the window all the way and kind of push it to the side, then used a long "pick" down next the the window to manually engage the door latch

Edit: a flashlight or headlamp helps alot too so you can see the workings.

If it were me, I would pull the drivers door panel off and closely examine what it takes unlatch it. Then get creative on making a tool to go down through the window gap on the passenger side to unlatch it.

I was actually able to get the door panel off from the inside. everything seems to be in place, so I'm thinking something dislodged inside the actuator. I can hear it attempt to engage/disengage when I use the door lock, but remains locked. I'm now fearful that there is no way apart from destroying the actuator to get it to unlock.

    Any suggestions?

Can you just pull up the rod for the door lock now that you have the panel off?

I was under the impression that the rod had to go down as that's what it does when I use the door lever.

If you pull or push on the door lock rod does it lock or unlock your door?
