I have an RX-V377. Saw it for $150 new and had to buy it for that price. I had a bunch of Polk speakers that I was using in different places as 2 channel setups, so I needed something to drive them as 5.1 instead. I have Polk Monitor 70s in the front, 40s in the back, a CS2 center, and a PSW505 sub.

For a relatively inexpensive setup (Probably around $1200 for everything, receiver included), I'm very happy with it. I had my doubts over a receiver that price, but I haven't found any faults yet.

I have the RX-v373BL. I'm using speakers from an older receiver. Works well for me needs. Loud enough to piss off the neighbors.

Brakes fixed with some shiny new bolts from the dealer and a new rotor/ pads. Wheel has a nice gouge running down the middle of it where the rotor was grinding. Just saving a little weight .... IMG_20170727_112356712.jpg

Seth, you're lucky! I almost lost my caliper completely. My truck has 20" wheels so they wouldn't hold the calipers in place.

We've got an electric dryer but we air dry the clothes on the line out back and just toss them into the dryer for a quick tumble after they're already dry. The range is electric but this time of year I'm grilling pretty much everything anyway, and our hot water comes off of the boiler. But I take quick showers so the water pump doesn't run for long. And I water the garden from my collection tanks on the side of the house, so no power usage for that. We've gone through the house and done the LED swapout too. We have an AC unit but we almost never use it; the breeze from the lake is usually enough to keep the house comfortable as long as we keep windows open on both ends to get some flow-thru.

I'd love to get a propane stove too, if for nothing else easier cooking during a power outage. But I grew up cooking on gas and prefer it to electric. When you want heat, you've got it instantly. Want less heat? Also instant. No lag while a coil heats up or cools off.

My hot water was off the boiler, but it had a bad tempering valve or something, so although the tank was hot you'd only get lukewarm water. Plus, the tank was very old so I figured it wouldn't be long before it started leaking anyway and I didn't want to go through a tank of oil in the summer just to heat water and keep the boiler up to temperature. So, I tore it out and put an electric unit in instead.

Water pump I sort of forget about. I don't think that's a huge amount for me, since I don't use a lot of water.

I wish my bedroom was in the back of the house because then the breeze from the river would cool it, but in the front it gets none of that. The one in the ideal spot is only about half the size of the master.

Yeah, I've got mine on a timer during the summer. It fires up in the morning and then shuts off after we go to work, and then fires up again around 6 and shuts off around 9. That way it's only making hot water while we're actually there and using it. I'd really prefer an on-demand propane unit, but I can buy a lot of oil for what it'd cost to install gas and convert everything, lol.

Fortunately the upper bolt was still holding strong. But ya losing a caliper would be a bad day for sure

Yep, it ended my morning with my truck on a flatbed. Fortunately, I heard a noise and pulled over. When I got out, the caliper was pretty much off the rotor. Pretty sure, if I had kept going I wouldn't have been able to stop at the next light. Where I was, the next intersection I would have gone through was Rt 9 so that could have been really bad.

My parents had an on-demand propane unit for a while and they got rid of it. The amount of propane they went through was unbelievable. The plumber who took it out said nobody should have recommended it in the first place because of how cold their well water was.

Well, I fixed the hot water heater this morning so it's burning a nice blue flame with no soot. All it took was to blow it out. Canned air worked fine. Surprised how little stuff came out considering how bad it was running

Good to know. I've got a bored well, so it probably wouldn't be a problem most of the year. Maybe in January, though. I've considered installing a big holding tank inline in the cellar on the way to the boiler so that it's got less of a temperature differential to overcome (and would then burn less oil) but it'd be a hassle and we're already short on space in the utilities room. But I'm cheap enough that I've still seriously considered doing it

So as soon as the hot water heater was done my wife wanted to cook some eggs so I lit the stove. As soon as she went to cook she noticed it wasn't hot. Try to light the stove again, nothing. Check the hot water heater, nothing. Out of gas!

    :annoyed:

I've got a bored well too, and a jet pump inside the house.

Theirs is a drilled well, they found out the depth when the well pump was replaced at one point. Can't remember what it was exactly, but more than 400 ft. Water out of those faucets is like it came from the refrigerator, even in the summer.

    Doesn't it have dual tanks?

Glad the water heater turned out to be a simple fix. They usually don't take much 'debris' to make them run like that. They're basically just like an open carb, the gas is under pressure and drags air in with it when it blows through the mixture tube. It doesn't take much to throw off the air/fuel mixture.

My parent's water is like that. Their well is spring-fed and from what must be a really deep spring. Cold enough to give you brain freeze if you drink a big glass too quickly.

    They're both empty.

Must be a similar deal with them. The company that replaced the pump told them they would never even have to think about running out of water.

Mine is probably around 30 ft. I should drop a tape measure down and see exactly. Last I looked, water was within about 5 ft from the top, so that's a significant amount. Probably don't have to worry about it going dry either.

I have 100% electric EVEN HEAT (but use a wood stove) so our monthly electric is $250 to $300 year round! As far as stove goes...I got a weber genesis with a side burner for power outages...works great
