On a homer taco grill, you attach the mesh ONLY to the inside plastic surround via screws, no glue. On a CustomCar Grills Mesh you have to GLUE the mesh to the inside plastic AND the color matched surround. So on a homer taco grill you can switch the colormatched/chrome surrounds out. On a customcar grills once you install it you're stuck

 

If i can find a way to keep the markings I would, same with thru radio controls

75WXT...the whole radio is whats in my hand...got it because of how clean it is and no big box to worry about, it does have a small box that is probably 1 1/2 in by 4 in that you mount wherever and then plug this in.

 

Also a slightly, minor, little bit of difference in price.

I did the customcargrill on my rig. I haven't glued it.

Discrete zip ties work. You don't even notice them!

@TacomaCody I do indeed have a Bearcat 880. Works great so far as CBs go. I like having the built in SWR since my Firestick antenna needs tuned constantly.

Only drawbacks are that it is huge... And it is a CB.

I primarily use my HAM radio if and when i can. Much, much farther range.

 

Girlfriend wants to buy a 4runner So i was at the dealership yesterday. Got to test drive a 2017 Pro, and if I didnt love my Taco as my most prized possession and like a first born son, I would have traded that puppy in a heart beat. Wow, that thing was nice. Will get one for sure in 4-5 years.

Spent most of the day there so naturally I talked to them about the tacomas as well, guy said it is very uncharacteristic of them to be so quiet on new year model.... said hes been hearing rumors of a diesel tacoma... guess we will see.

 

Telecomm ignorance time: Do you have the same tuning procedure on HAM radios as CBs?

Trying to decide if I should just get a license for pork and get in on that side of communications vs. getting a CB... I already know a bunch of AZTW dudes run the other white meat in their rigs and a couple of my other friends have been threatening to go that route as well.

 

Get a pretuned antenna. Ground it well.

Only draw back to HAM is you need a license.

 

I so have to do this mod soon mine was placed on the left side where the flip down tray is which is right in prime knee bashing territory! Why anyone would mount it there is beyond me.
