Let's put the actual dollar amount aside right now. What if you had a product that you put your hard work, time, effort, own money etc into it and sold it for a price that made you money as well as kept the integrity of the product you're selling, then someone comes along and literally copies the part from your part (with no actual innovation or improvement to yours), but removes some lettering and sold it for 30% less because they thought yours was "overpriced". How would you feel?

Also why RTIC got in a law suit with Yeti, and they had to make changes/innovations/improvements to their new line of coolers.

Doesn't make any difference to me. I'm happy with my OG RTIC cooler. Also thinking of picking up an Ebay bumper soon

While I don't mind actual competition of offering similar products, at least make your own changes/touches/innovations to something if you're going to base something off of something else. The only thing that I agree with this person making this grille is it appears the quality and construction is well done. Otherwise I'd categorize this as every company that rips off other companies just to make a quick buck. So I guess that's a bit less bad? lol

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
But the huge paycheck RTIC had to YETI probably made everything OK.

I can respect that. It's just the the actual Pro grille is so expensive for really no reason, other than exclusivity. There's nothing about it that jusitifes the high cost, hence the market for a cheaper alternative. I'm not necessarily saying it's justified, but not surprising by any means.

I never actually read into what happened bewteen RTIC and YETI, other than RTIC having to make some minor design tweaks.

Right, it is pretty damn overpriced (and I have one, too), but what I'm saying is at least don't make a direct rip of it (removing letters is not making a "change"). Even the honeycomb area appears to be exactly the same. Maybe make it a TRD Pro "style" grille, with his own touches or something. At least put in *some* effort R&D, I guess is what I'm saying.

If I'm a startup business... Yeah I'd feel bad... If im a multi-billion dollar international company... I'm losing a few cents and could care less. Your comparing apples to oranges, in this case, a small startup vs a $236 Billion manufacturer who is charging an arm and a leg for something it produces for a fraction of the price.

You're ignoring my first part of the post. We're putting the actual dollar amount aside. This is an ethics and on principle question - not who's got more capital or liquidity. It's apples to apples.

I guess your right, then again, if only the world ran on ethics, it would be Utopia. Theoretically speaking, yeah its wrong, in terms of reality, its a dog eat dog world where "money talks" not ethics and morals.

Hell, OP is buying these off Alibaba for a lot less through China... Throwing the lettering in and putting a $250 sticker on it, hat off to him :hattip:

This is a normal thing that they are different, it's a replica, i never seen any replica looks the same as the OEM, there is always some minor difference between a OEM product versus a replica.

the replica grill is IDENTICAL to the Original Minus the letters.(they are removed on purpose to classify as "replica"). and it seems the Letters are added after the fact by the Van guy.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other, they copied them both. If there was a hot wheel, Rota had cheap copy.

And all those fools rolling around on knockoff wheels, with knockoff spoon mirrors, and knockoff carbon fiber thinking they were JDM..weren't. They were just posers.
That's the point I was making.
