Don't want to beat this dead horse....but:

I have 2017 Tacoma TRD/Off Road, double cab long bed, everything stock so far (wheels and tires etc). I will more than likely add a bumper to the front but have not decided on what yet, and l do not have plans of adding a winch. I am real close to pulling the trigger on the King 2.5s and Dakar package from DSM. The question now is, 600lb or 650lb or 700 coils. DSM recommends 600s unless I go over 125 bumper weight.

It’s a long truck with an ARE canopy plus a roof rack and awning = 260lbs everyday weight. Once I load water, food, camping supplies, dog, bikes, etc. we are at 500-600+. I do not keep the truck loaded all the time, as it is not a full time overland setup, but I can’t help but think that overall vehicle weight, even if not in front of the coils, plays a big role in loading them.

Does it really matter? Am I overthinking it? Thinking 650s but is there anybody running 650lb coils without any bumpers etc doing just fine as far as ride goes?

I'm running 650's and honestly at first it was a bit too stiff for me. I have the compression adjusters which helped. Also I was at about 2.75" of lift i believe. But what made a total difference was once I added steel ifs, trans skids and sliders. Much smoother ride
And honestly only cranked them another 2 threads from what they came like originally

I think the question here is how much does the dog weigh?

Thanks IvanCard. Believe I will go with 650, might as well set myself up for the future build. The wife wants a front bumper and who am I to deny her request!

Yeah man that's why I did it as well. I knew I would get skids and sliders first within a couple months. So now after I get bumper which idk when that will be, I'll see how the 650s handle it, then I'll see about stepping up to 700s

    O dont
I don't have kings yet but waterless wash or instant retailer might work? Would be all hand work but they sure look good new or clean.

Hi. I'm planning to get the King OEM setup with Icon leaf springs in rear so I can get the 1.5 lift all around. Anyone running this setup? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Sale person at DSM recommended this setup since I didn't want to go higher than 2.0 of lift.

I'm planning on similar but want 2.5 lift. Thats what I have now with spacer lift that came with truck when new. I want better ride on highway. Just trying to justify cost...:goingcrazy:

I have the kings with 14" springs and 650 springs rates. It's sitting at 2.5" of lift. I didn't even need to touch the adjustment collar to raise it up. Butter smooth on and off road

2.5" of lift with the collar that low?

I was under the impression you would be close to stock height before adding preload to the springs?

I'm installing mine this weekend and hoping to only lift the front 0.5-1" max. Might end up with the cali lean but we'll see. Hope not

He got the longer and higher rated springs which will lift in more without preload.

I'm learning too. You might be right but he did go to 650lb for extra future weight. :notsure:

That's with a 14" springs. Standard is 13" and you would need to crank the collar down to achieve 2.5" of lift.
