Tune / software / OBDII cable / ability to flash back to stock / upcoming Toyota CAN logger / free updates / custom tuning options.

for the 3.4 K-line stuff we were thinking just setup reflash kits + Open user software and release it to the wild. We just wanted to let people know it's possible.

so we could gain the ability to tune the ecu ourselves? to the point of being able to run bigger injectors and setup for boost?

why does this make you excited? Toyota reflashes the ECU from the factory for the TRD blower(at least when that was a thing). Which just means the 4.0 ECU is open for that.

ours....ours are not anything like the 4.0. They are on hardcore lock down and one of the biggest pain in the ass ECUs to even use a piggy back on.

Im sure there is plenty of interest but not if its only for 2 years. Plus be hard to compete with an AEM FIC6 at this point as support for it is growing fast with out motors. AND Megasquirt3 has a plug n play option for 95-97 motors and you can always do a normal kit for any year you want. Which is pretty cheap as well.

Megasquirt has a plug in play ECU for under 500 bucks for your year. Even give you a base map to start tuning. Fully stand alone with boost control and launch control. Hard to bead that.

Blackdawg, you are right. Through the years I have see companies come and go saying they can crack the 3.4 ECU. I'm not saying OVTune can't do this,
I have no insight to what he means by this,
"for the 3.4 K-line stuff we were thinking just setup reflash kits + Open user software and release it to the wild. We just wanted to let people know it's possible."

I have been running the URD kit since '04 and have never really been satisfied with it, the tune is fine and the truck runs well but 1) its a Splitsec fuel calibrator 2) it has little capability and 3) no updates. I do now have an AEM waiting in the wings but I keep looking at the megasquirt. I really didn't want a standalone in fear of losing some functionality
of the stock ECU but that is proving not to be the case.....

Well swap one in. Auto sucks anyways especially if you're trying to go for more performance. Hell swapping in a 5 speed would actually be a better performance mod then a supercharger really.

Yeah, I'll never had a 5 speed again. Auto all the way, especially after a 2800 stall converter and a TransGo valve body. I just REAAALLLLYYY wish I could change my shift points especially when in closed loop boost. It tries to shift at 2,500rpm in 5lb of boost and just BANGS the gearset. I have to drive around it or manually shift, which is what I do most of the time anyway. Full throttle open loop running down the track, no problem.

theres a thread on custom tacos that shows how to manual control the transmission and hook up paddle shifters.

Here is actual real maps in the 3.4 ECU. It's no BS.
I'm considering picking up one of these trucks.. they are quite cheap and these stock calibrations are stupid simple. Would be fun to play around with the code for new "features"

(what you're looking at, is the "meat" of the tune)

So why us this only on an 03-04? I know they changed ecus about every 6-9 months. But you're going to have almost no business if you cover just two years
