Gonna be fun next weekend playing catch up with all the raptors. I'll have the GoPro mounted in a few spots for fun.

 

Wished I'd been able to work on Frank all winter. I'd have a better rear setup by now. Then I'd be dying to come try and keep up. I'm sure I don't have the power though haha

 

That's my problem. I'm pushing my motor 80% to their 60%. Still fun dropping the weight should help a bunch. But I picked up @BossFoss Fat ass for a co-pilot so...

Grease is looking a little short in the gear end. Gonna pull it all out and regrease with something worth putting in there. Glad I sealed the cover with fipg though. No water in the planetary housing. It's all about that American welding mask!!!

Ready for rebuild. They are not shot but I think it's been 50,000 miles. Not sure what the interval is supposed to be

 

20k if ridden hard and put away wet. 40k if all street.

 

What did you end up using to compress them?

Do you have a pic of the old and new coils with no load/side by side? Those are 700# Eibachs right?

 

Yeah they are 700. Didn't need to compress the 650's, just backed the adjustment nut all the way out and then finagled the bottom cone off the shaft. I will have to compress the new 700's since they are 1" longer.

Well I see now why you had to have so much preload. It will be interesting to see how it all commes back together. Ride height in particular and how the valving feels.

Are you going to put in new oil and seals while you have it all apart?

700's are 14"

Trying to find the source. Was posted on ExpoP in a planning thread for a run up morrison Tom has organized. Apparently local club is going to try and clear it. Somehow..

I don't think a 2nd gen will fit though. 1st gen barely.

 

Hoping I will have no preload or maybe 1/2" to 1" at the most. First time messing with it all other than watching Marc rebuild mikes shocks and his bike forks.
