can i transform my 2010 tacoma 4x2 to a 4x4?

hi my name is alex ... and i just got a 2010 toyota tacoma acc cab 4x2 but because i was looking for a low payment i got the 4x2 version.... is there any way to make my truck 4x4? thanks .... for your help

I think it would be too expensive. I'd rather drive the 4x2 for a while and since Taco's hold their value pretty well I would trade it in later for a 4x4 so your ride would be under warranty. As opposed to making a 4x2 a 4x4 and maybe something going wrong and not having it covered. In my opinion.

 

^That is the real question- Only a grand and a bit for the basic parts. But the cost to fabricate and install is going to be equal or more.

 

welcome to TW! a conversion to 4x4 will be.... extremely expensive. a trade in would be cheaper and cause less headaches, plus you will be able to keep your factory warranty.

unless of course you are one of those crazy mechanic/fabricator types, in which case, go nuts.

I saw this same question a little while back. Chris4x4 said that the parts needed would be around $1,000. The real saver would be if you could do all the work yourself.

 

or just buy some 4x4 rear mudflaps. most people will never know
